One of the wedding tasks I looked forward to the most in those first few days of engaged bliss was registering. I have always looked forward to walking into a store with my husband-to-be and saying “we’re looking to start a registry here!” and getting that funny scanner and picking out all the pieces we will hopefully fill our home with. Today’s post is all about where we registered, what we included on our registry and some fun tips and tricks we discovered along the way.
Preston and I (and our moms) discussed the different items we wanted to register for and where we should go to cover all the bases. We knew we needed some small kitchen appliances, lots of kitchen tools and the basics like towels and dinner ware. We finally decided on Pottery Barn, Pampered Chef and Amazon. There are a few reasons we went with each of these places, and I will outline one by one. Note- I have seen several people use a service that allows you to compile your registry from all over the internet, but I have always looked forward to the traditional registry method and giving people the option to shop in person somewhere, but I think if that’s not the case for you then one of those services would be great.
Pampered Chef-
This is the first place we registered. I have learned to cook and bake by watching my mom use Pampered Chef tools for years. I am so familiar with many of the products, and I have seen firsthand how they hold up over time. I toyed with the idea of having a Pampered Chef shower (where people come over and pick items they want to get you in person all at once), but I ultimately decided to just use Pampered Chef’s online registry tool and go that route! We spent a long time looking through the website and catalog imagining what we would get the most use out of, and I love every piece on the list. I can’t wait to make yummy meals with some of the tools! We mainly registered for mixing bowls, leftover containers, knives, spoons and some cookware here.
Amazon
I have shopped several wedding and baby registries through Amazon lately, and it has been a great experience! I love that you can basically add anything you want on there, allow people to go in together on gifts and do delayed delivery. Another neat detail is the option to rank items in importance, I didn’t use this, but I think it’s pretty cool! I wasn’t sure about it at first because of how easily confusing it is to know if you’re buying something new or used on Amazon, but I think it will work well! Here we registered for small kitchen appliances like a toaster, Nespresso machine (crossing our fingers for this one!) and we also added gift cards to Regal, Whole Food and Amazon in case people want to go the gift card route. Some neat things I put on there include my favorite laundry detergent, Jenga to start our game collection and fridge organizers.
Pottery Barn
Swoon. Pottery Barn was THE store we always had to stop in when my mom and I went to the mall when I was younger. She has always loved going in and just looking. Getting to register there was a dream come true! I have actually already started to receive items from here which was so fun to get the first thing I have picked out! Here we added towels, floor mats, plates, silverware, serving items, table setting pieces and some decorative pieces. I love everything so much and had so much fun going into the store with Preston, I think it will be one of my favorite engagement memories. One detail that I love about registering here is the option to add items from Williams Sonoma, West Elm, etc. onto the list without having to make separate registries for each place- so handy!
Tips
Listen- I took all kinds of advice from all the women in our lives. They are the ones who have been homemakers for years, and I take their advice seriously! I also listened to Preston a lot. He didn’t have many must-have items, so I always really listened if there was an item he really wanted.
Have fun- We started really early and took our time to enjoy registering. This made the process much more fun for the both of us even if you can’t tell it by Preston’s face, haha.
If you made it to the end of this post, thank you for listening to me ramble on. I was just so excited for this process and put so much thought into every item. If even a quarter of the items are gifted to us, we will be so grateful.
