Welcome Wizards! If you didn’t already know, I am obsessed with all things Harry Potter. I have read the books and watched the movies countless times, and each time I grow to love them more and more if it’s even possible. I have also gotten my mom hooked on them, too! Last year we started putting together a Harry Potter Inspired Christmas tree, and we have loved it so much. Today I wanted to share a few pictures of our tree and what ornaments you can find online to recreate it.
My mom and I knew we wanted to do this for months before Christmas so we had lots of time to be on the lookout for ornaments when we would be traveling and shopping. I definitely suggest selecting and picking your HP ornaments over time and when you can really think about what element of the books you want each piece to represent. Ours definitely doesn’t scream HP like some of the ones I have seen on Pinterest, but ours really goes with the feel of our home better.
For our tree we purchased a skinny, 6-foot tree and burgundy and gold ribbon from a local florist. Here are a few photos from our tree! We also have old, round ornaments for depth, a Santa boot to represent the portkey they used to get to the Quidditch World Cup, and glass candy ones to represent the Honey Dukes candy shop on there!
Here are the links to a few ornaments to get the ball rolling!
Deer – Some sort of deer themed ornament is perfect for a HP tree. Harry’s Patronus is a stag and Snape/Lilly’s is a doe. We got ours from Walmart last year for $1 each, but they don’t have them again this year. Get a few small ones to scatter throughout!
Hedwig – Harry’s owl, Hedwig, is one of the most easily recognizable in the film. Woodland creature ornaments are getting easier and easier to find with that being a new decor theme, so pick up a snowy white owl to add to your collection!
Church – On Christmas Eve in Deathly Hallows, Harry and Hermione visit the graveyard in Godric’s Hollow and in the movie version they hear singing and bells coming from the church and realize that it’s Christmas Eve. Plus we are suckers for pretty church house ornaments for some reason!
Deathly Hallows Sign – The Deathly Hallows is basically the logo of the HP series. We have one in the wooden color and love it!
Snowflakes – we also got these from Walmart last year, but I found these super similar ones on Amazon! These add some filler for the tree, and it snows in basically each movie and book, so why not!
Hagrid’s – We found a little “hut house” ornament last year and got it for Hagrid’s Hut. No one else would be able to tell that’s what it is, but we had so much fun coming up with the meanings for each one that now we can’t forget!
I hope these ornaments give you some magical holiday inspiration!
