Welcome

Fall Transition Pieces

August 13, 2019

featured-image

If you have followed me since this time last year, you might have a glimpse into the degree in which I jump headfirst into fall each year around this time. I am usually the first person to walk in and smell the pumpkin candles, browse around the Halloween section and pop pumpkin bread in the oven. Unfortunately, Tennessee does not lend itself to fall clothing options until much later in the year, but I try to squeeze every last drop out of the season’s fashion. To do this, I rely heavily on fall transition pieces, and today I am sharing my favorite pieces from core items to accessories, to help you feel fall just a little earlier this year.

Flutter sleeve top- I live in tops like these from April to September. Something about the sleeve makes them summery when the time is right and just the right amount of coverage in the fall. This top comes in an array of colors and is available in all sizes still.

Muted sandals-   I swear by these shoes! I recommend them to anyone looking for comfortable shoe recommendations. They seriously feel like a pair of tennis shoes! I think the muted stain of the leather allows these to work well throughout August, September and most of October.

Denim skirt- One sure way to keep cool is opting for a skirt rather than pants. I don’t have a denim skirt in my wardrobe, and I think it’s one of the few “staple” pieces I have missing. I love this one from Levi’s! I just purchased my first pair of Levi jeans during the Nordstrom anniversary sale, and I think I am a new fan. This skirt might be next on my list.

Kendra Scott earrings- I am in love with the fall Kendra Scott collection. Jewelry is an easy way to add a hint of fall with no added layers! The style of these with the warm gold just screams fall to me. They are a splurge, but there are some other options from the fall collection that I love equally as much, like these and these. If you’re planning on purchasing any Kendra Scott pieces, hold on for a few days….. more news coming on that soon!

Leopard headband- I have a feeling that this headband will sell out quickly. This leopard print is so popular this season, and I love that so many people have started wearing it already. This print, along with camo, is easily transition-able.

Wide-leg pants- This pant style has been calling my name lately! Nothing feels worse than skinny jeans when it’s hot outside, but something about jeans, rather than shorts, makes me feel much more put together. I snagged these when they were around half off, and I am excited to style them. If you’re shorter, (I am a little less than 5’8) I would go for the cropped style. These are selling out quickly, but the green and mustard are still fully in stock. I love the long pair, but I think I can only make them work with some kind of wedge or heel.

That’s a wrap on my favorite fall transition pieces! I am also excited to see what my favorite boutique comes out with for fall, so stay tuned for some of those favorites!

🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long: I 🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long:

Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons), or more if you like it super tart!
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. My grandma just put the sugar directly into the lemonade which was so delish! But I played around with doing this and think it incorporates really well.

Let cool, then mix with lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Optional! The tiniest dash of vanilla extract and very thinly sliced lemons.

Taste and adjust sugar or water if needed.

Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

I also made her brown butter broccolini from the same cookbook. Delish!
