Hi friends!! I hope everyone is having a great week. It’s back to almost regular work hours this week after a few days off, and I am ready to get back in the swing of things to say the least!
One of the most exciting things happened over the weekend- My first bridal shower was hosted by my best friend since birth. It was so much fun. The theme was “she found her main squeeze” and had the cutest lemon decor! I am going to post the details on my Instagram story and already posted my outfit from the shower if you want to check that out!
After the showers come the thank you notes! I have always been a fan of snail mail (see my favorite mail items in this post), so thank you notes and invitations were one of the wedding tasks that excited me most. I was blown away by all of the thoughtful, perfect gifts I received. My love language is gift giving, so showers really speak to my heart. I wanted to share some of my tips when it comes to thank you card writing!
1. Keep a list
When multiple events are involved with lots of guests and gifts, staying organized is a must. Having a bridesmaid or friend write notes of gifts while you’re opening is so helpful! I always make sure to keep a note open on my phone and write down the name of each person I have sent a card to. That helps me avoid forgetting someone or accidentally sending two to one person. Even if you’re not a bride, keeping a running list of people you want to thank is a good way to practice gratefulness and take the time to send a personalized note!
2. Find the perfect cards
I have had a lot of fun sending all wedding related thank yous with our custom thank you cards from Zazzle. We got our wedding crest on them, and that makes writing thank you cards even more fun for me! I love that the cards give people a little glimpse into our wedding colors and theme!
3. Start with a hello
I always start my thank you cards not by “Thank you so much for ____” but with a greeting! Something like “Hi Jan, I loved seeing you at my bridal shower. It was so fun to catch up!” before starting in on the thank you makes it seem a lot more conversational and less robotic.
4. Be specific
Make sure to say exactly what you are thankful for! “I can’t wait to use the wooden spoons you gave me to stir up delicious meals for Preston and I!” Giving a specific example of how you will use the item makes a big impact in my opinion!
5. Sign off
As a bride, I have been loving to sign off with “Sincerely, Loren (soon-to-be) Provins,” but I think any parting is good for a normal thank you note! “Thanks again, Loren” is a good go to!
That’s it for my thank you card tips! I am hoping to do a post about my handwriting tips and tricks soon, but describing something as natural as writing is proving difficult, haha.
