Good morning, friends! I am just getting back into a normal routine after having the most wonderful spring break. I wanted to share a little spring break recap because I feel like it’s important to share the not-so-fabulous adventures to counter the pictures and videos you see on your Instagram of people all over Europe and the Bahamas.
When spring break came around my freshman year, I was overwhelmed and admittedly jealous of all my friends’ fabulous spring break plans. I felt completely left out and imagined I was the only girl sitting at home all spring break. It caused me to not enjoy my break, and instead of relaxing, I was full of resentment.
Looking back, I am saddened by my inability to look around and enjoy the time and season I was in. I am happy to say by my junior year, I have been doing much better at appreciating every moment and opportunity presented to me.
Here is what I did over spring break!
For me, this was the perfect blend of travel, work, relaxing and enjoying time with my family.
On Friday, Preston and I left for a weekend of mini-travel and fun in Nashville. You can read a full recap about my time there in this post. This was the perfect time to travel over spring break because we got back on Sunday, and it felt like the entirety of spring break was still waiting for us. On Sunday night I hung out with my roommate and her boyfriend, and Skylar and I went to Panera for dinner.
On Monday morning, Skylar and I went to Capybara for a coffee and scone before I headed off to work. I worked for seven hours on Monday, and when I got off Preston and I picked up a pizza at Hard Knox and took it to Sequoyah Hills park to eat and chat. It ended up being freezing outside so we went back to his place to watch a movie. I then went back to my dorm and packed and deep cleaned my room. I think I watched Youtube videos until way after my usual bedtime and then fell asleep.
On Tuesday I went to work in the morning and met Preston for lunch at Wildlove Bakehouse. We also walked through MidMod Collective to daydream of furnishings for our future apartment. After work, I went back to the dorm and picked up my stuff and the clothes I wanted to take home. On the hour drive home I listened to the “What we said” podcast episode about the girl from Average Fashion Blogger- it was so good! When I arrived, my dad and I went to Cracker Barrel for dinner.
On Wednesday I woke up early and went to La Follette to get my friend Ciara some balloons for the opening of her new salon where she does facials! I got a salycilic peel, and I can already tell how good it’s going to be on my skin. On Wednesday night, my mom and our friend Ashley and I went to get pedicures in Morristown- it was much needed!
On Thursday, I had a very lazy day full of drinking coffee and hanging out with my mom. We did go to the store and I got all the ingredients to make these healthy cookies from barre3– they were so good. We also made dinner, and Preston came over to hangout for a little bit.
On Friday, we got going early to Knoxville and shopped around and did a few returns. We met up with my mom’s best friend and ate lunch at Nama, our favorite sushi place, and went to watch the Vols play- they won! We came back Friday night and just hung out at my house.
On Saturday, I woke up and hung out with my parents for the morning. I cleaned my room really good, and Preston came over and we went for a 2-mile hike near my house. My dad grilled pork chops, and then Preston and I went back to Knoxville to gear up for the week.
Sunday is always my reset day. I hope to do a Sunday routine post soon!
My spring break was full of all different sorts of activities, but I wanted to share if anyone needs encouragement. Not every moment is fabulous, and even the people who look like they are having the most magical break probably have some boring moments sprinkled in that they aren’t sharing. I hope you enjoyed this spring break week in my life post!
