Happy New Year friends! It is officially 2019 (will this be the year I nail switching over from ’18 to ’19 when dating papers?), and with that comes the either dreaded or embraced New Years’ Resolutions. Today I wanted to share my goals for two reasons- first, because I want to be held accountable and writing them down is the best way to remind myself and second, because I find reading others’ goals SO inspiring. Here are a few goals I am trying to keep in 2019!
Save more
I don’t think I have mentioned this on the blog yet, but I am starting a new job next week. It will be my first paid internship, and I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to learn and grow in my field and grow the savings account I will need for the future. I struggle to categorize myself as a saver or a spender because I have always loved putting almost the entirety of my paycheck in savings, but I can be easily persuaded into buying something cute and little I see at a store, even if I don’t need it. This year I want to save more and buy less things I don’t need.
Start a skincare routine
Mistreating my skin is probably my worst habit. I have never been inclined to stick to a skin care routine for more than a few weeks. I usually just use one makeup remover wipe and call it a night. I told all of this to my friend Ciara, who is a licensed esthetician, and she gave me a great skincare line for Christmas. I have been using almost every night and most mornings, but I am hoping to get more consistent!
Have a stress free wedding season
2019 is actually the year I will be getting married. That sounds so crazy to me- after dating and growing up together for six years, Preston and I are finally at the place in our lives to get married! I know from friends that weddings can be taxing on your personal life and relationships with friends and family. My goal for this wedding year is to have a relaxed and stress free season!
Notice God in everyday life
Do you ever find yourself ready for bed and to say your night time prayers and realize you haven’t thought about God once all day long? I have done that more times than I would ever like to admit. I am constantly working on noticing Him and thanking Him for the little things consistently throughout the day. This is one of my biggest goals for the new year.
Be healthier
Also on the wedding topic, I want to take more care of my body in 2019. I started doing this before I got engaged, but now I have even more of a reason to feed my body want it needs. I have the worst eating habits, and I have never been a fan of working out. I hope to change my mindset on healthy living this year!
Be greener
I have always been a green minded girl- my 4H speeches were always centered around “reduce, reuse, recycle,” but I want to implement more intention into my efforts to produce less waste. When I was in Italy this summer, I noticed how much effort they take to reduce (mandatory recycling in Siena), and I watched this video that introduced me to someone who lives a zero-waste lifestyle. Meaning she uses little to no waste in every day life. If she can use zero waste, I am pretty sure I can bring a reusable cup to Starbucks!
Use 1 Second Everyday
I downloaded this app that helps you video and organize a video clip for every day. I have always wanted to do that but never found the perfect way. The app looks super easy to use, and I can’t wait to have a 365 second long video to watch next year!
That’s it for my 2019 goals! I encourage everyone to write your own goals down somewhere, I think it helps so much!
