Welcome

My favorite hair accessories

October 10, 2018

Wow, I have really been on a hair kick lately! I don’t know what’s up with me, but I am here with another hair related post today.

I am a sucker for hair accessories. I have always been a baseball hat girl (I think I get this from both my parents- we all sport one on the weekends), but I wanted to branch out my accessorizing! A few years ago, I purchased the prettiest floral bandana from Old Navy, and I wear it as a headband constantly!

Bandana
This bandana was only $7, and I wear it at least once a week!

Following my bandana obsession, I got hooked on hats. I wore this hat almost every day when I was in Italy, and I am not even sorry about it! It’s in so many of my pictures, but if you could have just seen what kind of bathroom situation I was dealing with, you would understand why I never wanted to spend long getting ready, ha!

I loooove this hat. It’s also pretty affordable.

Before I got super into fashionable hats, I assumed they would be terribly expensive, but to my surprise they are mostly affordable. My favorite brand is Brixton- they have super well-made, trendy hats. The one pictured above is a Brixton!

Okay, after that very long introduction into why I love hair accessories, here is a roundup of all my current favorites for the fall and winter!

1. Black, satin bow- I get so happy when Christmas time comes around because I can wear bows like this. I have a red, velvet one I always wear to a Christmas party, but I want to get this one to pair with classic, holiday dresses.

2. Scrunchies- I never thought I would be a scrunchie girl, but here I am typing this post with one on my wrist! They are just so cute, and they double as a fun bracelet! My favorite place to get them is from My Kind of Lovely. They are all handmade, and they have a ton of options. I have this black and white gingham one, but I would love an orange one from game days! 3. Hunter green scarf- How fun is this scarf? My favorite bandana from Old Navy is more suited for Spring/Summer, so I am looking to get a chilly weather alternative. I love that green is in!

4. Similar hat- This college hat is perfect for those days when you just don’t have time to wash your hair before class. I like this one because you could dress it up with jeans and a graphic tee or dress it down with shorts and a tee!

5. Brixton hat- I am currently coveting this hat. I can’t find it anywhere in my size (medium in case anyone was wondering what size to order), but hopefully I can find an alternative or it will come back in stock soon.

6. Green headband- I have a navy headband like this from j. crew, but I love the green and stripes for the fall! These add such a statement to your outfit!

7. My favorite hat ever- Ahh, my dream hat. I love this hat more than any other item of clothing I own! In Italy I am pretty sure I was known as the hat girl, and even thought I don’t have as many excuses to wear it now that I am home, I have it hanging right by my mirror so I can see it often!

8. Dotted bandana- I just ordered this! I have seen this on so many bloggers and instagrammers, but for some reason I always assumed it would be hard to find/get. I was randomly browsing Nordstrom today and saw it from Madewell, and I had to get it! Can’t wait for it to come in.

That’s it for all my current hair accessories! I hope this inspired you to step up your accessorizing game like my bandana did, haha!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons), or more if you like it super tart!
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. My grandma just put the sugar directly into the lemonade which was so delish! But I played around with doing this and think it incorporates really well.

Let cool, then mix with lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Optional! The tiniest dash of vanilla extract and very thinly sliced lemons.

Taste and adjust sugar or water if needed.

Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

I also made her brown butter broccolini from the same cookbook. Delish!
