In a recent podcast episode, I mentioned Sunday scaries had crept back into my life since starting my new job. It’s not due to one specific thing, but I think just that feeling of uncertainty for the week ahead in a time of transition.
Multiple of my favorite follows (Halfbaked Harvest, Amber Fillerup, Fran Accardio, etc) share a certain number of things, links, articles, etc they have loved/want to talk about in regular posts, and I thought this would be the perfect new post series for me to start here on the blog.
So, every other Sunday, check here for a roundup of 10 Sunday happies that will help me (and hopefully you!) battle the Sunday scaries.
1. Melissa Wood Health is seriously *great* for my Health
I’ve not done a complete recap on Melissa Wood Health, but I’ve shared quite a bit about it on my Instagram. It’s been completely routine changing for me, and I couldn’t recommend it more. I even think if you’re extremely passionate about another exercise avenue, this would be a great addition to your routine. It’s great for overall core strength, flexibility and so many other aspects of your health.
This is the best complete review of the program and what ultimately led me to signing up for the 7-day free trial.
This has also led me down the path of elevated workout wear and gadgets— my most recent round up of “health happies” features all the items I’m currently crushing on.
2. Joanna Gaines is back
So I’ve not officially signed up for Discovery+ (and I’m not sure at all that I’ll actually end up getting it), but I’ve been seeing glimpses and teases of Joanna Gaines’ latest work, and it looks even more incredible than her previous projects. I’m increasingly excited for her new network, especially the cooking show. I watched *all* the videos she released in the beginning of quarantine and the teasers I’ve seen of the cooking show look amazing.
I loved this article about her studio kitchen, the entire process sounds like a dream to me!
3. Snacking on,,, Sweet Loren’s Fudge Brownie Cookies
I picked these up on a whim at the grocery store a few weeks ago and waited for the perfect time to bake them. I decided to make just a few so we could make them last longer, but that was almost impossible. These were too good to resist, and they’re totally safe as cookie dough since they’re vegan. To be honest, I’ve never let non-vegan cookie dough stop me from eating it by the handful, but it’s nice either way, ha.
Do not let the vegan and other very healthy traits throw you off, these are incredibly delicious and taste so indulgent.
4. Listening to… Ray LaMontagne
Wow, maybe I’m the last person to become obsessed with Ray LaMontagne, but better late than never. I got his record for Christmas, and hearing it played through our record player sets the best mood all through our house.
I’ve been placing his music behind all my Instagram cooking videos, I hope you all don’t get tired of it too quickly, haha.
5. Eating… Indian Food
Preston and I have been on a serious Indian cuisine kick lately. We had our first real exposure to Indian food at Dishoom on our honeymoon, and since then we’ve been slowly getting out of our comfort zone and trying it more and more. We made this super simple coconut chicken tikka masala with white rice and naan bread… oh my gosh, it was amazing! It’s one of the best things I’ve cooked recently. We also went to Tandur Indian Kitchen last night, and we enjoyed it so much. I’m excited to get further and further into exploring this cuisine!
6. Goodreads
You guys know I’ve been tearing it up on my 2021 reading goals lately, but I need to also reveal I’ve been becoming more obsessed with Goodreads. I honestly like checking it like I do my other social medias, and I update my progress on my current reads after every single reading session.
If you want to friend me, I think you can search “Loren Provins,” but I’m honestly not sure because it’s impossible to tell if I have a different username!
7. This lotion is the best I’ve ever used
I bought this Brazilian bum bum cream with a gift card I received for Christmas, but I honestly wasn’t expecting it to live up to the hype. How could something be that good and worth that much money? But honestly it’s worth all that and more.
Definitely buy the small, $20 container first so you can make sure you like it, but I can’t imagine anyone not liking it! The smell is amazing and you use such a small amount, meaning it lasts forever. I think it’s supposed to have tightening effects, which is nice, but I honestly use it most for moisturizing the super dry skin I’ve had during this winter.
8. Hello Fresh is game changing
It’s hard to believe all the ads, sponsorships, podcast spots, etc. you hear about hello fresh, but I promise it’s really as good as people (who are paid to) say it is. I wouldn’t get it every single week because of it’s slightly more costly than my regular grocery run of meals and other essentials, but it’s honestly such a treat to get it once a month or so. The meals are so fresh, creative and healthy! I love not having to think about what to cook or what to buy at the grocery store for at least one week.
9. Buying… Buff City Soap
In my Valentine’s Gift Ideas post, I explained a little about our recent obsession with Buff City Soap, but I really don’t think I can describe just how much I’ve been loving it. Preston is obsessed with the shampoo bar, whipped soap and shower fizzies. I can’t get over the bath bombs, foaming hand soap and bar soap. It’s all just too good! Our favorite scents are smokey sunrise, narcissist, coconut and beast. If you don’t buy anything else, the laundry detergent is one of my must-haves forever now, and I highly recommend washing your sheets with it each week- amazing!
10. Watching… Brooklyn Nine Nine + Wanda Vision
We finished Brooklyn Nine Nine after what seems like forever spent watching it. I can’t believe just how attached we became to this show, and it already feels weird not having it to watch every evening. We went through the first couple of episodes very slowly, but then we got completely hooked in. There’s a new season coming out at some point too which is exciting!
Along with that, we also watch the new episode of Wanda Vision every week, which has been a weird experience to say the least. I feel so detached from watching a filmed show like that once a week. Besides dancing with the stars, I’ve not watched a show on a weekly schedule like that in years it seems. It is fun to have something to look forward to and the anticipation after watching each (what feels like extremely short) episode is real.
