Welcome

Spring Forward

March 15, 2021

Admittedly, Spring Forward was extremely hard for me this year. I went to Nashville on Friday night for a bridal shower and then came home on Saturday, so with switching time zones twice, plus spring forward, my body woke up all out of whack.

We had a slow morning with lots of coffee and watched church online, but I felt sluggish even after 10 a.m. I decided the best thing would probably be to change out of my pajamas, make the bed, get out of the house and get a little bit more caffeine. This little spring morning routine inspired me to dedicate a post to little spring happies- let’s get into them!

Matcha Lattes

Okay, was I the last person to try matcha? It feels like it. My friend Katie recommended a match latte, with coconut milk and pump of chai. It was definitely unique, and I’m so glad I tried it. Would I get it often? Probably not, I definitely don’t think I am obsessed. It was good, and I think you would like it if you like green juices and/or green tea.

I may try it with regular milk because I’m still so new to milk substitutes. The aftertaste of oat milk, almond milk, coconut milk, etc. are always off putting to me no matter how often I try them.

The aesthetics of the matcha latte are ~supreme~ though, love that green!

Spring Athletic Wear

I received the Outdoor Voices exercise dress for Christmas, and sadly it just had to hang out for a couple months until it warmed up. I was able to take it out for a spin a few weeks ago when we were having an unseasonably warm day, and it definitely lives up to the hype. It’s just so seamless and comfortable.

I have also been seeing bright and fresh athletic wear everywhere recently. I think the “not wearing real clothes” trend is continuing for 2021, and I like it. Here are some spring athletic wear pieces I either have or have been eyeing recently.

St. Patrick’s Day Meal

St. Patrick’s Day is the nice spring holiday before it really ramps up with Easter, but we usually don’t mark this day in any special way. This year though, I was already craving my Yeehaw beer chili recipe, and it just so happened to coincide with St. Patrick’s Day! I wanted to share it here again to remind anyone looking for an easy way to mark the holiday. I always make the Half baked Harvest beer bread too.

Tuckernuck New Arrivals

I am new to Tuckernuck but that doesn’t mean my enthusiasm is any lower. I saw this SAGE Dudley Stephens on @carly, and I am obsessed. All the new arrivals are looking so bright and fresh. We are going to Jackson Hole in August (hopefully my entire family will be vaccinated by then!), and some of the items look like they would be perfect for those hot days coming up.

Decorating for spring

I got out all my spring decor today, and I was so excited to get everything out, until I could not find this one spring pillow cover. I’m soooo aggravated because I actually couldn’t find the pillow cover last spring, only to discover it around Halloween I think? Well, I put it somewhere I would remember for the next year. Cannot find it anywhere.

So, I got so aggravated and just quit for the night and started making a pie, haha.

But if you are decorating for spring, I love Kelly’s roundup of Target’s spring and Easter items.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons), or more if you like it super tart!
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. My grandma just put the sugar directly into the lemonade which was so delish! But I played around with doing this and think it incorporates really well.

Let cool, then mix with lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Optional! The tiniest dash of vanilla extract and very thinly sliced lemons.

Taste and adjust sugar or water if needed.

Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

I also made her brown butter broccolini from the same cookbook. Delish!
