Welcome

Early Summer Date Night Look

May 5, 2021

We decided to have a spur of the moment date night last week to celebrate a few things. It was such a fun little getaway, we too often ignore the special little downtown community we have here in Knoxville.

I really want to start a Knoxville series on the blog, because I love recommending Knoxville gems to natives and newbies alike. I’m thinking I’ll do restaurant posts (segmented by cuisine and location), coffee shops, activities, shopping, etc? If you have a request, comment below!

Anyways, Preston unofficially graduated with his master’s before he is on to his PhD, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. He also officially has no more class to take ever, it’s just teaching and researching until he’s done in a year or two.

We went to Knox Mason, it was my first time since they rebranded into a dinner restaurant (it used to be geared toward brunch I think?) and Preston’s first time ever. It was delicious, southern fare, and it really hit the spot.

We split the pimento cheese with pickles and beer bread, I got the half chicken with brussels sprouts and Preston got the gumbo. I’m not sure how often they change their menu, but we loved all of our choices, especially the half chicken! We really wanted dessert there, but we couldn’t resist a trip by Cruze Farm.

That is all– I’m sorry this was such a random post, but I couldn’t resist putting pictures of my navy Hill House Home nap dress up. If you want to know more about the nap dress, make sure to check out my full review. This was the first time I’ve dressed it up, and I’m even more in love with it now- I know you guys are too, that review is my most popular post ever.

Thanks for coming to my virtual date night!

🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long: I 🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long:

Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons), or more if you like it super tart!
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. My grandma just put the sugar directly into the lemonade which was so delish! But I played around with doing this and think it incorporates really well.

Let cool, then mix with lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Optional! The tiniest dash of vanilla extract and very thinly sliced lemons.

Taste and adjust sugar or water if needed.

Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

I also made her brown butter broccolini from the same cookbook. Delish!
