Welcome

Photo Diary No. 9

May 14, 2021

Another great month over here on classicallygrace.com! This month was personally extremely busy, and I think it paid off well on the blog, because it was the highest month of traffic I have ever had. Thank you all so much for reading along.

As a reminder, my photo diary posts are roundups of those photos that just didn’t quite make it to the ‘gram. I try really hard to not include any edited images, because I always want to remind everyone that instagram is literally a highlight reel, and nothing is always exactly as it seems.

Trader Joe’s takes their sweet time in coming out with new candle scents, so I was thrilled to see the peony blossom candle was out. It’s not my favorite of their scents, but I love their candles so much, it’s still a really great buy for the price. If you’re wondering, they are small, but they have great burn time for $3.99.

This picture is so random, but I wanted to say, Preston’s frozen breakfast burrito recipe will be coming to a blog near you very soon!

I made Claire Saffitz’s Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe, and chronicled the long, arduous journey on my Instagram stories. For a quick rundown, I made the cookies too small and therefore overbaked multiple small batches! Finally nailed it will a bake time five minutes less than suggested, but they were so worth the extra effort. The best chewy, crispy cookie! I never thought I would be a chewy cookie person, but I have to say these are almost winning me over…

We have been having lunch together twice a week on Mondays and Tuesdays, and it’s been so fun. We’ve been coming to Capybara, where we actually discovered their iced matcha lattes and fell in love! Pro tip, you have to get these with oat milk! The oat milk makes it so beyond creamy and delicious.

I was commissioned to slightly help my coworker set up for her wedding a few weeks ago, and I thought it looked so beautiful when I left I had to snap a photo. This was before the candles were lit, and I can’t image how beautiful it looked then.

We went to Jack’s on Central in Knoxville a few weeks ago right after watching church online, and it was seriously the best way to spend our Sunday. I got a cardamom latte, and it was really good! It was my first time having one of those, and I seriously thought I was allergic to it for a little white because I got a really weird rash around my eyes, but I actually think it was just from seasonal allergies and all the pollen we have had in Tennessee recently.

Preston officially started his summer internship on Monday, and I am so proud of him! He is working for a national lab all summer, and it’s just so good to see him doing something he’s really passionate about. His other summer positions haven’t been as closely related to what he would ultimately like to do one day, and this one is a little closer to his end goal, so that’s exciting.

🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long: I 🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long:

Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons), or more if you like it super tart!
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. My grandma just put the sugar directly into the lemonade which was so delish! But I played around with doing this and think it incorporates really well.

Let cool, then mix with lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Optional! The tiniest dash of vanilla extract and very thinly sliced lemons.

Taste and adjust sugar or water if needed.

Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

I also made her brown butter broccolini from the same cookbook. Delish!
