Welcome

My New Job

April 12, 2022

Ahhh! After six months of getting settled in the Bay Area and working a few smaller part time jobs, I can finally say I have a full time job again.

Starting April 19, I am going to be joining the cred PR team based in San Francisco. cred is a communications agency dedicated to the speaking and events space, and building thought leaders through speaking placement. I’m starting in a support based role, but I’m excited to learn and grow closer into an account role over time.

The company is graciously hybrid, so I’m looking at commuting into San Francisco a few times a month to visit the team and work in the office. Otherwise, I’ll be diligently working from home (maybe home office decorating content coming soon?). I think it’s going to be such a great fit, and I can already tell the company has amazing values as well as amazing clients.

It’s just finally so nice to be fully employed, using my college degree again and resuming my career after a little gap. This job came into place so perfectly- a podcast listener (shoutout to you, Lottie!) + friend connected me with a current cred employee she’s friends with, the job was posted and the rest was history! Don’t you love when connections like that just fall into place so perfectly?

Backstory, I left my job in the public relations department with the University of Tennessee System in September 2021 to move to California when my husband accepted a job with Apple. It honestly took us way longer to get settled in California than I thought. We were in temporary housing for a month before moving to our permanent apartment and getting all our items we shipped delivered in, and we were planning to travel home for a week at a time for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Before we knew it, three months had passed, and I hadn’t received a single interview, but admittedly I hadn’t been applying very feverishly.

As soon we got back from visiting our families, it finally felt like I was settled enough to get a part time job (without having to request very busy holiday weeks off right off the bat), and it just so happened that my local barre3 studio was hiring part time. That ended up being the absolute best thing I could have done for myself, it seriously helped me establish connections, have scheduled commitments to get me out of the house and earn a little extra money. It was actually so good for me, I included it in my tips for making friends in a new city blog post! In the meantime, I can’t forget about also splitting my time working on a freelance social media account I’ve been running for two years, this blog and my podcast.

I’ve also just been living my best home making wife life, and that’s been funner than I would like to admit! All that to say, I haven’t been sitting idly by during this season of “unemployment,” but I am excited to get back into a full time position and stretch myself professionally. I do think that this new structure, income, career opportunity, etc. is going to be so good for me though!

I will definitely keep you guys updated here, on the podcast and Instagram. I cannot wait to share more professional content, commuting into the big city content and more! Thanks for always being the most supportive group of gals on the internet <3

Almost 21 days of time moving my body with this community! Doesn’t even capture the enjoyable hours spent at book clubs, special events, working play lounge years ago, all the things 🧡

Couldn’t let this accomplishment pass without a spot on the feed! I’m so thankful for this community and the lifelong friendships I’ve created out of it.
