It’s been a really long time since I updated my podcast preferences, and I thought it would be fun to revisit now that I’m a podcaster myself— which is so weird still to say. I am interested to hear how many people listen to podcasts right now. My process of starting a podcast has opened my eyes to how many people in my circle already listen to podcasts! I am going to organize this by how regularly I listen to podcasts or if I just drop in every now and then.
One and Done Podcasts- those limited release series that I binged so fast
– Serial: I listened to this SO long ago. I don’t remember all the details except loving it. This is definitely a place to start if you want to get interested in mystery podcasts.
– S-town: This is the black-sheep cousin to serial. Definitely another must-listen if you want to get started with mystery!
– The Dropout: This is everything you basically need to know about the Elizabeth Holmes/Theranos scandal. It’s SO interesting and mind-boggling. If you haven’t heard anything about it, I would honestly be surprised. Definitely check it out!
Listen to every episode
– What we said- Jaci and Chelsea do such a great job with this
– Bad on Paper: I followed Grace Atwood before I started listening to this podcast, and I have honestly just become a listener during quarantine. I really like their content- nice mix of commentary on reading, women friendships, fun banter- the list goes on.
– How I Built This with Guy Raz: This is one of my original podcast loves. The episodes are really well produced interviews with big business founders. Everything from Shake Shack, Barre3, Spanx, DuoLingo, Warby Parker, etc. It’s so inspiring and entertaining at the same time!
Listen occasionally, when there’s an episode I am interested in
– Armchair Expert: Ah, Dax Shepard. Such a funny guy! I love this show because it is honestly so intimate with celebrities you would never expect that from. I don’t listen to every episode because I am not invested in a lot of the celebrities. But sometimes I listen even if I am vaguely interested!
– Thick and Thin: I’ve followed Katie for a really long time, and I enjoy her podcast a lot! She just moved from NYC to LA, and it’s really fun to listen to her navigate dating, friendships, creative inspiration, etc.
– The Popcast with Knox and Jamie: Ok, I don’t *love* this podcast at the moment, but I do listen when my podcast cohost Alyson suggests an episode, and sometimes I find ones on my own that sound really interesting. I totally appreciate the way they built their podcast from the ground up!
Podcasts I want to listen to
– Dolly Parton’s America: Ah, so many people have recommended this to me. It sounds right up my alley.
– RomCom Pods: This is a fictional podcast series created by one arm of the Bad on Paper gals, definitely want to start it when I am in the car more often.
I hope this gave you some podcast ideas! I am really happy I refound podcasts again- I would love if you shared your favorite podcast with me on Instagram!
