Welcome

My Travel Bucket List

September 30, 2020

undefinedAs we’ve been basically weekend trip or vacation free for the past six months, I have noticed myself getting antsy to start traveling again numerous times. I’ve written a post about how to evoke the mindset of travel during this time and followed some of my own advice, but I am finding it increasingly hard to shake the feeling of being overwhelmed at just how much of the world is out there to see and how little time and resources it feels like we have now to accomplish all we want to do and see in life.

I didn’t intend for this blog post to start off on such a glum note, but it’s just one reoccurring anxiety I have been having in this time, and I want to always document the good and the bad on this platform. Each time I see a new place or experience on Pinterest, Preston thinks out loud about a place he would love to visit or I see a picturesque location on a movie or TV show, I feel this pang of worry that we’re missing out on seeing so much of the world. Our list of places to see is so. long. We seriously want to go to every single place on this planet and explore all the experiences out there, but I have to keep reminding myself resources are limited to actually do this.

Today I thought it might be comforting to list out five places we want to go so it can feel just a little bit more accomplishable. We have SO many international trips on our bucket list, but today I mainly listed state side visits, as that might be the most feasible in the next few years.

By the way, all the images below can be found on my “Maybe One Day” Pinterest board!

Ahhh so excited to visit!

1. Nova Scotia, Canada

Okay, we may or may not have booked flights we found on an INSANE Scott’s Cheap Flights deal to Nova Scotia next spring. I have my fingers crossed we will be able to go and everything will work out! I love booking trips that far out because it’s allowed us to really save for it monthly. I’m hoping my vacation days at work and the pandemic cooperate for the trip to end up happening! Luckily the flights are refundable if we do need to change plans.

2. Asheville, North Carolina

Preston has been to Asheville a couple times, and both our parents go there regularly, but somehow I have never really been! I ate dinner there once when we were on our way back from somewhere else in North Carolina, but I am itching to go on a weekend trip. I am thinking maybe a night at the Omni Grove Park Inn?? I looked at the prices and they aren’t too bad, but hopefully we can also save up for the spa experience. It looks amazing!

3. Seattle, Washington

This has been on our bucket list for so long! We considered it for our honeymoon, but several people told us January was just not the ideal time to visit. I hope we get to go soon! Preston is really interested in the Grunge music history scene in Seattle, and I am really excited for the rainy weather, Pike Place Market and Seattle.

I think God’s beauty shines extra bright in this place, and I’ve never even been there!

4. Grand Canyon National Park

I think everyone needs to see the Grand Canyon at least once, and neither one of us have ever been there. I was supposed to be able to go to Arizona in April of this year, but obviously that got cancelled. I was excited to be in the general vicinity of the Grand Canyon, but this just means I need to plan another trip there asap.

5. Austin, Texas

Texas just seems like the amazing, other-worldy place to me? I have no idea why- maybe it’s just because everything is bigger and better in Texas! I think my trip will mainly be inspired by this Flying the Nest video, everything Stephen and Jess did looks so fun and right up my alley.

It still might be a huge stretch for us to even visit all of these places, I am hoping and dreaming we can be strategic with our budget and time and make it happen! What’s on your travel bucket list? Let me know on my latest Instagram post!

🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long: I 🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long:

Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons), or more if you like it super tart!
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. My grandma just put the sugar directly into the lemonade which was so delish! But I played around with doing this and think it incorporates really well.

Let cool, then mix with lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Optional! The tiniest dash of vanilla extract and very thinly sliced lemons.

Taste and adjust sugar or water if needed.

Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.
