Everyone loves a good subscription service, right? I feel like there are subscription services out there for almost everything now. You can literally purchase anything in the form of a subscription service, but what are the best subscription services for women?
Today I wanted to round up all of the subscription services I have, rank them by how “worth it” they are to me, share which ones I have my eye on and which subscription services I have had and cancelled in the past. That sounds like a lot, so let’s just jump right into it.
When it comes to subscription services, I think it’s really important to thoroughly evaluate if it’s a good fit and a good deal for you. It’s a slippery slope once you start getting a few subscription services going, and I can see how it would be all too easy to stack on ones that you really don’t need.
I think it’s important to sit down and reevaluate your subscription services every few months to make sure the subscription is still aligning with your needs. This post is honestly serving as a good occasion for me to evaluate mine, so I really encourage you to take a look at these to see if there’s one here that would fill a gap in your shopping habits or remind you to cancel something you could do without. Here are the best subscription services for women, in my opinion!
Best Subscription Services for Women, Ranked
1. Book of the Month
Shipment: Every month or by desire
Cost: $14.99
Product Review: I have a full, comprehensive review of Book of the Month on my blog, and I think it’s really helpful for answering a lot of broad, overarching questions about Book of the Month.
Book of the Month is my favorite subscription by far. I love that you don’t get sent a book unless you manually select which one you want- I have found that is extremely rare in a subscription service, and I’m not the best at account management sometimes, so that’s definitely appreciated.
I also think you cannot beat this price, and it’s such a fun treat to get in the mail. I highly recommend ordering three books in every single box (the max) because unless your TBR shelf is piling up, you just can’t find those books in hardback for the same price anywhere else.
2. Curology
Shipment: As Needed, monthly or every two months
Cost: $39.90 for two month supply – $4.95 for a month supply free trial
Product: This is the only acne medication I have found that really works for my skin. I like that you get emails with plenty of notice before they ship your box so you can easily skip if you don’t need a refill quite yet. I also like that you can easily customize what comes in your box.
The only downside I have found is you can’t order any additional products unless you get the acne treatment specifically. I have plenty of the acne treatment right now, but I am almost out of the moisturizer and face wash (which I love), but I couldn’t order either unless I also got the acne treatment. It’s fine because I will use it eventually, but still a slight negative for me.
If you struggle with acne like me, I definitely think it’s worth giving a try. They customize the formula to you, and the prescription is from a real dermatologist! It’s amazing.
3. Daily Harvest
Cost: Varies
Shipments: As needed
I almost published this post without including Daily Harvest, because I completely forgot you could set it up as a subscription service. These are the freshest, frozen smoothies, bowls, flatbreads, soups and more that a ready in minutes. The Daily Harvest team is kind enough to partner with me, but I would be more than happy to pay for it myself and set up a subscription service.
I have a full Daily Harvest review on my blog, so make sure to check that out if you have any questions about Daily Harvest.
4. Ritual
Shipment: Monthly
Cost: $30
Product: These daily vitamins have worked so well for me. The packaging and subscription model keeps me motivated to take them daily, which is something I cannot say for random vitamins I pick up from the store. I also think the vitamin composition is really good and works for me! Get $15 off Ritual through this link.
The packaging is honestly sooo beautiful for these too!
5. Hello Fresh
Shipment: Weekly, by need
Cost: Varies
Product: I also have a full review of Hello Fresh on my blog, and we’re loving it just as much as we did when I wrote that post.
Now that we live in California, it’s even more worth it for us because we’ve found groceries and food to be a little more expensive here. The only thing we struggle with is account management here- I wish they wouldn’t send you a box if you forget to go in and select your meals or skip the week if that’s what you want to do. If they added that feature in, this would probably be my favorite subscription service ever.
6. Apple Family
This includes Apple TV Plus, Apple Music, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage for just $14.95 a month. There’s also a family plan for $19.95 for up to six family members. The most expensive plan costs $29.95, boosting iCloud storage to 2TB and including Apple News Plus and the new Apple Fitness Plus.
We have the most expensive plan, and we really like the Apple Fitness Plus, News Plus and everything that comes along with this! You can also add quite a few family members, so that’s been really nice.
7. Billie
Shipment: Every three months or by need – they have a quiz for you to take to determine how often you should receive a shipment
Cost: $10
Product: These are silky smooth razors that you don’t need shaving cream for! I really do like them a lot, and I think it’s a great product. I think I have it ranked lower because this would be pretty easy to pick up yourself from the store, but I still like getting it through subscription because I hate being out of new razor heads, and these are a lot cheaper.
Streaming Services We Pay For or Have Access to
Keep in mind how often streaming accounts are shared by the entire family, I promise we do not pay for all of these ourselves.
- Hulu– We have Hulu + Live TV for $64.99 a month. Trust me, we know that is a huge price to pay, but we don’t pay for cable or anything else, so this works out for us. There’s a ton of stuff on Hulu that we like watching, so we’re pretty happy with it. Preston kind of wishes we could drop the live portion of Hulu all together, but I seriously can’t give up Dancing With the Stars and the easy ability to watch live events like the Oscars, the Super Bowl, etc.
- Netflix
- Disney+
- Amazon Prime
- Apple TV+
Subscription Services I Used to Have but Cancelled
Melissa Wood Health– this is a fantastic workout service if you’re looking for something to do at home or while you’re traveling without access to fitness equipment. We got the Apple service which has a huge catalog of fitness classes, so I ultimately decided to pause it for a little while and try out the Apple classes. I also just haven’t been feeling like working out much recently, so it just didn’t make sense to pay for it.
Tezza– Tezza is a really neat photo and video editor, and I mainly use it to make these stop motion-esque videos to spice up my content. I just cancelled this because I wasn’t using it too, too often, but the premium version is only $3.99 a month, so it doesn’t add up to a ton of money throughout the year. You can purchase it for just one month at a time, so when our traveling picks back up and I have more videos to edit, I will probably resume it on a month to month basis.
Flo– This is a period tracker that also helps you track and understand your period symptoms. I was going through a really weird time with my menstrual cycle this summer, and Flo was helping me really track what was going on. It’s since regulated, and I figured out how to track through a free iPhone app, so I’m switching to that as soon as what I’ve paid for already runs out.
Winc– I tried Winc once and gifted it to my Mother-In-Law, but we just don’t drink enough wine to keep this going! If I was even slightly more into wine, I could have done a once a month subscription, but I just don’t get too excited about wine enough to sign up for a subscription service for it.
To decide what to actually sign up for as a subscription and what to just purchase as needed, I think it’s important to decide what you get excited about receiving in the mail. Weeks when I receive multiple of my subscription items, I get so excited, and I think it’s because I have narrowed it down to what I am really excited about.
I hope this gave you an idea of what I think are the best subscription services for women. I know there are so many other services out there, so leave me a comment if there’s one you’re obsessed with that I didn’t mention here!
