Welcome

Black tie optional

October 17, 2019

I recently went to a black tie optional event in celebration of the 50th anniversary of my college at UTK, and it was one of the most fun experiences ever, meaning a blog post on it was a must. Not being in a sorority and being required to attend semi and formal events twice a year, I haven’t been to a really formal event since prom in high school. Prom was always so much fun, but there is something about the refined elegance that comes with an event labeled black tie or black tie optional.

Black tie optional was personally tricky for me because it left options open for full length gowns and cocktail dresses. I ended up going with this dress because it was long and formal, but without any glitz or glam to prevent being over the top! I wanted to blend in more than standing out since I was a student attending a mainly alumni concentrated event. I picked up these shoes when I shopped at West Town Mall for my collaboration with them, and they were perfect! I have the same pair in nude, and I already knew they were the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn- so much so that I am planning on changing into them after the wedding ceremony. I finished off the look with some very simple earrings and actually used my wallet as a clutch, because I completely forgot to pick up one from home.

That’s it for today’s post! I wanted to keep it short and sweet as I am heading into fall break and wedding shower time. I am so, so excited for my wedding shower, and I already can’t wait to do a dedicated post to it!
