There is something so refreshing about thumbing through a brand new cookbook, mentally marking the recipes you want to try and carefully positioning it to look perfectly with your other books. However, I know more people than not have a “cookbook graveyard,” where all the cookbooks they thought they would get so much use of, go to die. Why is it that we spend our time scrolling through Pinterest for recipes, when we have books in our possession that hard working people have spent months, or years, crafting?
I know, I know. Pinterest is easy, Pinterest is free. But if you already own the cookbooks, why not explore them further and use them more? I have less experience than most cooks, but I have already enjoyed the two cookbooks I own immensely. Today I wanted to highlight the cookbooks I have and those I am wanting to invest in!
1. Magnolia Cookbook: I was gifted this cookbook at my personal shower, and I couldn’t love it more already!
2. Mary Berry’s Fast Cakes: Any Great British Baking Show fans out there? My roommate and I absolutely love the show, and Mary Berry was our favorite judge. This book is full of yummy, traditional baking recipes that take only around 15 minutes or so to prep. I think this is really valuable because everyone wants to make impressive desserts, but we don’y always have the time to devote.
3. Southern Living: I grew up flipping through my mom’s Southern Living magazines, and I always love the beautiful recipes and hosting tips they give. I don’t have one of their cookbooks, but I think I would definitely get a lot of standby recipes from there.
4. Dutch Oven: We registered for a dutch oven (fingers crossed we get it!), and I think this cookbook would help me get more comfortable using it for all kinds of recipes. I love that the dutch ovens are so versatile, and this would help me from baking bread to making dinners!
5. Pride and Prejudice I am obsessed with Pride and Prejudice! I have read the books and watched the (Kiera Knightley version) movie. This cookbook walks you through all the sweets and treats talked about in the book, and I think it would be so fun to walk through one recipe at a time.
I hope this post inspired you to put your cookbooks to good use or branch out with a new one! I am so looking forward to becoming a wife and incorporating more and more cookbooks into my daily routine.
