Welcome

Emily in Paris: Homemade Halloween “Costume”

October 27, 2020

featured-image

Halloween already feels so, so different this year. It’s usually the one occasion I have a pretty big party for- It’s Harry Potter themed, and I usually go all out and send invitations, decorate, do a themed menu, dress as a HP character, etc. It’s always so much fun, but this year I just knew I wasn’t capable of making it as big as usual. With the pandemic, I haven’t hosted a big gathering in quite sometime. Thinking about the party made me feel tired rather than excited like I usually am.

With the pandemic, I haven’t hosted a big gathering in quite sometime. Thinking about the party made me feel tired rather than excited like I usually am.

I went back and forth on not even having a costume this year. We had big plans that we talked about way back in March to be characters from one of our favorite movies, but we aren’t going anywhere as a couple so it didn’t really make sense to spend much on a couples costume. So, I actually decided to dress up solo this year and use the opportunity to not have a Harry Potter related costume like I usually do.

Drum roll please…… This year’s costume is Emily in Paris!

I’ve talked about my mixed feelings about the show on my Instagram story, but even though I am not a huge, huge fan of the show, I do still like it. I also love all the fashion, sites and scenery, so I thought it would be a fun one!

Preston and I went to the French Market Creperie for breakfast on a weekday morning (which is such a fun treat anyways!), I bought roses and dressed in my most parisian outfit! I already owned all of the items, except the boots! I borrowed those from my mom, and voila! Costume. I also love that I could probably totally wear this outfit in public, but I would probably reserve it for a big city like New York or Paris.

I linked some pieces I think would help you channel an Emily in Paris look here! My coat, skirt and all other pieces are old, but I found a few somewhat similar items.

Almost 21 days of time moving my body with this community! Doesn’t even capture the enjoyable hours spent at book clubs, special events, working play lounge years ago, all the things 🧡

Couldn’t let this accomplishment pass without a spot on the feed! I’m so thankful for this community and the lifelong friendships I’ve created out of it.
