Hi friends!!! Today’s post is so exciting for me. I now have my engagement photos back!! I wanted to share a sneak peak of them and offer a few tips and tricks I discovered during the process. I have several photos that I don’t want to share until our save the dates go out this summer, but I will share those as soon as possible because they are my favorites. So be on the look out for Part 2 of this post! P.s. my favorite is the one on the cover of this blog post!
Tip No. 1: Listen to your photographer- If I had picked the time and place of our pictures, they would have been horrible. I was trying to schedule our pictures on a Saturday in downtown Knoxville!! My photographer knew this would mean hundreds of people out and about, so she suggested a Sunday around 4. The lighting and lack of people were perfect!
My outfit: Dress, shoes (these are so comfortable!)
A little background on my dress- I wanted this dress for engagement pictures so. badly. It was completely sold out in white and the only option was to get on the waitlist. I kept checking Nordstrom, and eventually ordered the navy one because I was getting desperate. One day I checked, and they had one white dress left, and it was my size!!! I ordered it so fast. So glad it worked out!
Tip No. 2: Dress for the season your wedding is in- My wedding isn’t until late December, which makes early March pretty early for engagement photos. However, I did not want our photos to look spring or summery since we are going to be using them for the wedding and showers which will be in the fall and winter.
Tip No. 3: Wear white!! I did almost everything I could to get out of wearing white. I just didn’t want to! My roommate Tessa thankfully made me, and I am so glad she did. It’s a lot harder to stand out as the bride when you’re not in white. Plus this is the only year of your life where everything is literally about you being in white! I am going to try to be better about embracing the color I rarely wear.
Tip No.4 Express yourself- I really wanted our outfits to be something we would totally wear. Preston wears this sweatshirt all the time and I love mock necks. You don’t want to look not like yourself.
No. 5- Have fun and don’t be self conscious! You feel kinda silly when you first start posing this way- or at least we did! Make sure to have fun and get all the nerves out so your pictures look the most natural.
My outfit: Pants, sweater (this sweater was just randomly laying on one of the tables in Gap- I didn’t see them on display anywhere else. It was the perfect size and fit! I linked the gray version), shoes – similar and on sale!
I hope you all enjoyed this post! There will be more engagement pictures coming once I can share!
