I love reading Carly’s “On My Radar,” Grace’s “Weekend Reading,” and Fran’s “This Week’s Top Ten” posts so much, and I’ve been itching to start one of my own! I think it will be a good way to include some more personal elements on the blog as I’ve switched to a lot more guides and product reviews will less of a personal element in the past year.
So now on Fridays, you can now expect a little roundup of articles I’ve read, videos I’ve watched, products I’m loving, book-ish recommendations and maybe some Taylor Swift theories. I am so excited to get this started, and I hope you guys love it as much as I loved putting this together.
1. Behold, the Book Blob
I just joined the Bad B*tch Book Club after following the founder on tiktok for a while now. There was a thread in the Facebook group asking people to submit book covers they think look a little too much alike, and someone shared this article. I found it really interesting, and I really enjoyed the thread in the group! I could probably do an entire blog post about how much I love Facebook groups, but for now I just wanted to turn you guys onto the topic by sharing this article.
The article basically talks about trends in the book cover designing industry, and I just found it really neat to think about. The article also links to this other comparison of of book design trends from a a few years ago, and it was crazy that I hadn’t realized how big that trend was until they compare the covers in that article. Interesting!
2. Holiday Baking
I am itching to do some holiday baking now that we have such a big and nice kitchen! Elisabeth’s pumpkin cookies with a maple glaze and salted pecans look incredible. My friend Melissa creates the best recipes, and I just know I need these gingerbread cookies in my life! I might just need to buy some cookie cutters for the occasion- love this affordable set and this surprisingly affordable set.
Also, I’ve never made something like this chocolate cinnamon pull apart wreath, but I think that needs to change.
3. One More Page Book Club
My insta-friend Mariah started this virtual book club right when we moved to California (aka away from all our friends), and it honestly has done me wonders with having something to look forward to. I love all the books selected for each month, and it’s a really great group with discussion that’s far from shallow but never too serious.
It’s always open to new members, so definitely feel free to join us this month! It’s nothing but fun.
4. Easy Trader Joe’s Lunches
I’m all about an easy lunch, but sometimes low ingredient recipes can be a total miss. So far I’ve tried three from this list, and we have nothing but good things to say about all of them! We’ve tried the chicken caesar salad wraps, the gyro naan wraps and the prosciutto + brussel sprout tortellini. All so good and so easy!
5. Christmas Charcuterie Tips
The charcuterie board (meat and cheese arrangements) craze doesn’t ever seem to be going to die down, and it’s even more popular around the holidays each year. I wanted to make sure we all knew about @thatcheeseplate, because her posts and tips really are so helpful for me. I used her method for folding meat into flowers the other day, and it was so easy to follow and turned out so well. I’m also dying over all of these arrangements! I’m obsessed with making and eating charcuterie boards, so she’s a fun follow for sure. Make sure to check out my favorite charcuterie supplies!
