Welcome

Gift Guide for the College Gal

November 15, 2018

Merry Christmas!! Too soon? Oh well! I am in the full Christmas spirit, as I know many of you are. Today I have a gift guide for all those college gals you know and love. It can be hard to think of the perfect gift for a college girl. You might not see her that much, you might not know what’s ‘in’ anymore, or you might not know what she will actually use. I have put together this list of gifts that should appeal to almost every college aged girl. There are several different price points, too! The best part about gift guides- even if you’re not in the spirit yet, who doesn’t want to get ahead on shopping?

Here are my top eight gifts!

1. Chunky scarf and hat set – There are tons of days when walking to class is just too much. Most of the time we settle for looking like bums because warm clothes can be very un-cute. This adorable scarf and hat set would make the perfect, cute cold weather accessory. Plus, you can get it for 15% off if you use my code, ‘Loren15’.

2. Beauty Blender – almost every girl I know uses one of these. This is the brand name version, but you can usually find some at the drugstore for pretty cheap. This would be a great stocking stuffer!

3. Movie theatre gift card – Going to the movies in college is the go-to activity. Bored and need  break? Go to the movies. Looking for a first date plan? Movies. Having a gift card makes going so much easier. I would recommend getting a $25 gift card because that’s enough for her and her friend or for herself twice! Putting this with a pack of microwave popcorn or movie candy would make it extra cute.

4. Starbucks gift card – Speaking of gift cards, you can’t go wrong with one from Starbucks. Most campus dining locations like Panda Express, Chik fil a, etc. don’t take gift cards. However, Starbucks accepts them if they are loaded onto your phone. Plus there is usually an off campus Starbucks near any campus. Including one of the Starbucks reusable cups or another cute mug would add a lot to this gift!

5. Hydroflask – For some reason this is the water bottle everyone has at the moment. I didn’t see why at first, but now I have one and love it. I got the straw lid topper, and it makes drinking water on the way from class to class really handy!

6. Kendra Scott necklace – These are the perfect, wear all the time necklace. I have the white and gold version, and I never take it off. Even if she already has one, a new color combination is always welcome. I tagged this green one because I have been on a green kick lately.

7. Short Hunter boots – Okay, I know I have talked about these numerous times, but it’s because every time I wear them on campus I get so many compliments from girls. They are just perfect for keeping dry for class without clunking around in huge boots.

8. Fresh chapstick  – This stuff is seriously the best chapstick ever. I got some for my roommate and she keeps it in her coat pocket so she only gets to use it on special occasions. I try to make mine last for as long as possible. This is a huge set for a really good deal!

That’s it for this Christmas gift guide. A few posts from now I will do an Amazon Prime gift guide for all the last minute shoppers out there!

Have a great rest of your week and weekend!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons), or more if you like it super tart!
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. My grandma just put the sugar directly into the lemonade which was so delish! But I played around with doing this and think it incorporates really well.

Let cool, then mix with lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Optional! The tiniest dash of vanilla extract and very thinly sliced lemons.

Taste and adjust sugar or water if needed.

Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

I also made her brown butter broccolini from the same cookbook. Delish!
