Welcome

Gift Guide for the Cook

November 24, 2020

featured-image

I am so excited because today my friend Katie and I are teaming up to share five picks each for the best cooking-related gifts for the 2020 holiday season! We both love cooking and sharing food with each other and our other friends, so this was extremely fun and easy to put together. I hope this sparks a few ideas for your gift giving this year!

Also, make sure to check out her post to see what she has to say about the items she picked!

Gourmet Salt

I have been so into artisanal salts and seasonings lately. I also picked up a box of Maldon se salt flakes– any practiced cook is going to spot these immediately and be so excited!

SIlicone Baking Sheets, $14

I am all for looking the extra mile for kitchen tools that replace single use items! Enter these silicone baking mats. I think they’re just different enough for the odds to be good your gift receiver doesn’t already own these, plus you can always use a few extra! In case you’re wondering why these are even a thing, they actually allow your cookies or other items to brown more evenly and prevent burning.

Le Creuset Salt and Pepper Mills, $79

I actually have these on my Christmas wish list this year! I think something about these just screams “I love cooking!!!”

Instant Pot, $99

I think a lot of people still don’t an Instant Pot, and if they do they probably rave about it so much you would know! Mine has saved me countless times when I forget or mistakenly miss a time intensive caveat on a recipe.

Casserole-size Crock Pot, $45

This casserole size crock pot is amazing. Couldn’t love it more for get togethers (when we have those again) and I love making mac and cheese and shredded chicken recipes in here. I also like using this to keep things I didn’t make in the crock pot warm for parties

Katie’s Items:

Air fryer $50

Not going to lie, this is on my own Christmas list! I have seen so many people using air fryers lately so I’ve been waiting one to make my fries extra crispy and to try some of those tik tok recipes that use this healthier version of a deep fryer. I can see a lot of uses for this kitchen tool, so I’m sure it’ll pay for itself very quickly.

Knife set $40

Every good cook needs a nice set of knives. Having sharp and quality knives makes prepping meals so much easier. It may seem weird to buy someone some knives, but I promise if they’re someone who has to cut things frequently, they’ll appreciate a fresh set of knives to make their life easier.

Electric griddle $20

My grandma has always had an electric griddle since I can remember. She uses it for so many things that I never would have expected! Not only can you make a big batch of pancakes but also grilled sandwiches, french toast, hibachi and more!

Coffee mug filled with candy, coffee or tea $5-10

For those of us on a budget or looking for a cute stocking stuffer, you can’t go wrong with a cute mug filled with someone’s favorite candy or drink. I’ll admit that this is one of my go-to gifts for people no matter the time of year. Who doesn’t love a cute mug with a little treat inside?

Custom cutting board $30

I love these cute custom cutting boards! This could be really fun for your friend that just got married since you can customize the board with their new last name or for your mom–she’ll love pulling this out for the holidays when she’s cooking. Cutting boards are also great because they can double as a charcuterie board/snack board for serving guests too!

Share a family recipe/one of your favs $0 FREE

Sometimes buying a gift just isn’t possible, but a great free/low-cost gift you could give is to share your favorite family recipe with your friends. You could hand write the recipe (if you have nice handwriting) or print it on some nice paper–whatever way you want to make it special. The holidays don’t have to be expensive!

Growing Notes pt 2 - all about herbs! I am so ex Growing Notes pt 2 - all about herbs!

I am so excited to have fresh herbs to cook with all summer long. I’ll probably have to buy another dill once full Tennessee summer does its worst but I’ll gladly do it bc it’s truly one of my favorites 🤤

One tip I didn’t have time to include in the video - I planted mosquito-repelling marigolds with these herbs because they’ll live near our seating area ☀️ anything to ward off even a few pesky bugs!
