Is Nuuly Worth it? Full Nuuly Review, Nuuly Discount Code + Nuuly Tips

September 6, 2022

If you’ve made your way to this post, you’re probably wondering, is Nuuly worth it? This Nuuly review is going to answer all the questions you have about Nuuly and more. Keep reading for all the Nuuly details and a Nuuly discount code!

Nuuly Review

What is Nuuly? How is it different than other clothing subscription services?

Nuuly is a clothing rental company that allows you to pay $88 a month in exchange for six pieces from their extensive catalog of clothing. While they do have upscale pieces, most of their options are more casual and in a lower price range than companies like Rent the Runway for example.

What kind of clothes does Nuuly have?

Overall Nuuly offers more casual clothing items for rent. If you are looking to just shake up your day to day wardrobe, Nuuly is a no brainer. The value of my order was almost $900, so it did really feel like I was getting some high quality pieces that are normally a little out of my budget.

If you are looking for a special occasion piece, you’ll likely also be able to find something perfect for a wedding or event, but there is one downside.

The worst aspects of Nuuly

In my opinion, the worst aspect of Nuuly is the inability to schedule what you want, when you want it. When you go to order your six items, you have to pick from what’s available at the time, order it, and immediately have it shipped to you. This becomes problematic if you’re looking for something perfect for an exact event, but you can only pick from what’s available. Their catalog is HUGE, so this isn’t too much of a problem, but it’s something to keep in mind if you like to plan out what you’re going to wear to an event months in advance like I do.

Secondly, a more personal con for me is not owning the clothes I’ve just spent $88 to rent. You’re getting way more than $88 worth of clothes, but if you’re only wearing each thing 2-3 times (or less), is it worth it to spend that money and not have months and months to get your money’s worth? It was something I debated a lot throughout my month having it, and I’m honestly still undecided.

Is Nuuly better than Rent the Runway?

I wish I could compare Nuuly and Rent the Runway Unlimited, but sadly I have only tried a single item Rent the Runway order, and comparing a single item order with Nuuly is more like apples and oranges. What I can say though, for me the selection at Nuuly is way more in line with what i’m wanting to wear on the day to day, so between the two I think I would pick Nuuly. I would use Rent the Runway for special occasions and stick to Nuuly for the day to day.

Does Nuuly offer accessories?

Unfortunately Nuuly doesn’t offer accessories as part of their catalog. Maybe someday! I know this is something really popular with Rent the Runway.

Will I keep using Nuuly?

I didn’t renew my Nuuly subscription for another month, but I would use it again in the future if there’s a month I know I’m going to several events or on a few weekend trips. I work from home, so it’s really hard to actually make use of wearing these pieces out as much as I would want to get my money’s worth.

Would I recommend Nuuly?

Yes! I think it’s a great way to try out new styles, new brands, items you’ve been considering investing in, the list goes on. For example, in my next Nuuly order, I really want to try out a pair of AGOLDE denim. They’re an investment piece, and I’d love to try them in a lower risk situation like this!

This is also an extremely sustainable way to shop. If you’re the type of person who likes a capsule wardrobe and doesn’t purchase many new pieces every year, this is a great way to refresh your wardrobe a little bit.

On the other hand, if you’re someone who shops more than you would like, this can help you feel like you’ve always got new items coming in even though you’re just spending $88 overall!

What are my favorite brands from Nuuly?

  • Anthropologie
  • Velvet by Graham and Spencer
  • English Factory
  • Maeve
  • ASTR the Label
  • Scotch & Soda
  • Hutch
  • Free People
  • Little Lies
  • Spell

How was the Nuuly ordering process?

It took me quite a while to pick out what I wanted. The “available now” filter and the featured edits Nuuly puts together help quite a lot, but I swear it still took me more than two hours to make my decisions. Their catalog is so massive, and they have so many different categories, it can be hard to decide what you want to commit to for a month.

The only other thing I will say about the Nuuly ordering process – my clothes smelled a little weird when they first arrived. It’s definitely a starchy, dry cleaned smell, but it was a little off putting when I first got it. The smell went away really quickly luckily though!

The return process couldn’t have been easier. You just put the pre-printed label on the box and drop it at a UPS location or drop box. You have to get your items in the mail in time for it to get back before the billing date if you don’t want to renew for another month though.
