Welcome

My Favorite Items From Our Registry: Pottery Barn Edition

August 8, 2020

One of the questions I am asked most by my friends is, “What did you register for?” or “Registry must haves?” I think these are both great questions. My mom and I talked nonstop for what felt like months about what I should register for, then went back and tweaked and retweaked what I registered for until it was just right. I look around at my home almost daily and appreciate all the wonderful people who gave us these incredible items to build our life around- such a sweet thing to think about.

I have blogged about my registry multiple times, but I thought now was a good time to bring it back up because of the rise in engagements I have seen lately + with my new perspective of using these items for more than seven months. If you want a little more insight into why we selected Pottery Barn, Amazon and Pampered Chef, head to the first post my registry series.

Today I want to talk about the items we are over the moon about from specifically Pottery Barn- I thought breaking these posts up by location would be the most handy in case you aren’t registering at Amazon or Pampered Chef.

Pottery Barn

One of the best aspects of registering at Pottery Barn is the ability to also select items from Williams Sonoma, West Elm, etc. without having to say you’re registered at an additional place. Your guests can go on the Pottery Barn website, and everything you selected from the other stores will automatically be on there! That was important to me because I felt weird listing out a ton of places we were registered, and three was really my limit!

We registered in store at Pottery Barn (our specific registry linked here!), then went online later and added a few more things from PB, Williams Sonoma and West Elm Starting in store was great because we got to feel the sheets, towels, glasses- everything.

Here are my favorites from our registry + a few tips!

Dinnerware *Tip, when given the option, I found it best to register for items separately, rather than as one big set. PB will often offer a “120 piece set” or you can register for each portion of the set individually. For the most part, the sets aren’t saving any money and it was better for us to break up the set into smaller pieces so someone could buy four plates in their price range, rather than only have a $200 set as an option. You still get all the dishes you want, but registering for them separately makes it easier to cater to your guests’ price ranges. With that said, they do offer “Set of 4” or “individual” on the items- go ahead and register for the set of whatever item it is- that will definitely make it easier on your guests! So for example, I registered for two sets of four plates, two sets of four bowls. etc.

However, If you know there’s a specific person who would love to gift you the entire set, go for it! Or you can register separately for the dinner plates, salad plates, bowls, etc!

Flatware- Again here we registered for eight, 5-piece sets! This gave us eight big spoons, eight little spoons, eight knives, eight big forks, eight small forks! This also helped meet different price ranges for our friends and family, but again if you know someone who specifically would love to gift you your entire silverware set, go for it.

Towels- we registered for too many bath towels and not enough hand towels! Somehow I only registered for two hand towels? I have no idea how that happened. We have two bathrooms, so ideally I would have had four hand towels. Also we registered for 8 bath towels, and I think we would have been better off with six. It’s fine though, these towels are such great quality, we should be able to keep them for years and bring them to any house we may move to!

Glasses- these + these are my favorite glass ever! So durable but still feel delicate. We made the mistake of not registering for any other type of glasses, so I ended up using gift cards to buy sets of two specialty glasses for us. I went back and got these later on.

Serving ware *TIp, it might be tempting to register for every piece in the entire set of serving ware you like, but try to refrain! My mom told me this, and at first I didn’t understand. Our personal preference is to have coordinating serving ware and not entirely matching. Once you get all your items out on your table, you are not going to want them to match exactly, I promise! Try to find two-three coordinating sets of serving ware and mix and match what you like from each collection. These are the two sets I switched in and out- green (on clearance!) and simple

Bedding- we only registered for our sheets here, our quilt was from Amazon and our other bedding pieces were custom-made.

Investment cookware- Williams Sonoma has been my mom’s destination for cooking and baking splurges for as long as I remember, and I feel so blessed to have received a few items from there! My favorite, most-used item is definitely my Le Creuset. I got the 3.5 quart, but feel free to size up or down depending on your cooking habits.

Simple, timeless decor- I really didn’t select too many decor pieces, but I made sure what I did pick was timeless and would flow throughout all seasons and decor styles for the rest of our lives. Try looking for classic frames, clean lines and nothing too trendy.

Seasonal items- We got married in December so this totally worked for us, but it may not work for you. We registered for a few seasonal pillows, personalized Christmas stockings and stocking hangers! I even would keep checking back on there for summer and fall decor and add depending on if we had shower coming up. I think people really like buying those special items that will fill your home during the holidays!

I hope this was helpful in your registry process. Please let me know if you’re interested in seeing what we registered for from Amazon and Pampered Chef.
