I am done with school for the semester!! Saying that feels so good. I don’t think it has fully hit me yet, but I have no school work for a few months!
I was telling Preston that I am so upset with myself for not reading for fun lately. Whenever I get the itch to read something outside of school related reading, I always reach for the classic Harry Potter. While those will always be my most favorite novels, I miss being on the edge of my seat to finish a book. I know every word of every Harry Potter book, and I want to challenge myself to break the mold this summer. Btw, I just finished reading Eleanor Oliphant, and it was pretty good! I hope they make a movie of it.
I have just over 12 weeks of summer so I want to challenge myself to read 8 books this summer. I am in the process of filling out a library card application so I can read for free all summer! Does anyone else hate paying for books you’re going to read once?!
I am going to share my list to hopefully inspire your summer reading! Let me know if there are any I need to add.
Daisy Jones and the six- I heard about this one from Carly– she gives great book recommendations, and she just started a book club Instagram, and I am loving it. Let’s make reading cool again, ladies!
Broadcasting Happiness- my professional mentor recommended this book to me, and I am interested to see what it’s all about! I think it will be good for getting me out of the funk school can sometimes put me in.
Where the crawdads sing- my boss recommended me this one! I don’t know a thing about it, but her reading list is always so impressive!
The hate you give- another one from my boss! She is going to let me borrow it so this will probably be the first one I knock off my list. I know there is a movie about it so I can’t wait to compare the two!
The road back to you- I have wanted to read this since I started learning about the enneagram last summer (thanks Brooke Willett!). My coworker recommended this, and I want to read it as soon as possible!
Everybody Always- I have heard lots about Bob Goff (thanks again, Brooke!), and I know I will be able to read this devotional style book at the same time as another one so I ma adding it to the list!
Crazy Rich Asians- I watched this movie and it has become one of my go to chick flicks! It is so good. I have wanted to read the books forever, but never wanted to make the plunge and pay for them. I hope I can get them from the library soon.
The great alone- this is another rec from Carly. It’s about a girl moving to Alaska, which is oddly something I dream about when I am in adventurous mood sometimes, ha! I think this will be fun to read in the summer because if you know me in real life you know I am not a summer kinda gal! Hopefully it can fulfill my longing for cooler weather.

That’s it for my summer reading list. I can’t wait to be by the pool and spend hour reading these at night. Let me know if there are any I need to add!
