We’re more than two years into the “new normal,” which for many us means working from home at least one or two days a week. I am so happy with my current work from home setup, and it’s finally time to share!
I really debated long and hard before deciding to put my desk in our living room, because as the room we spend the most time in, I was afraid I would just constantly feel like I was in the same space and couldn’t turn work off and on. I’ve always envisioned a work from home set up like this, so for right now at least it’s making me so happy to look over at my desk! The beautiful chair and desk really help, so let’s get into all the details of my work from home setup

My Work From Home Setup
My Desk
The biggest element of this work from home setup is my ladder desk from cb2. I looked at so many desks, but ultimately I really liked that this ladder desk added height and r00m for a separate shelf for decoration. We don’t have too many surfaces for decorating in our apartment, so it was important to me to add a spot for a few things!
It was really easy to put together and attach it to the wall. The black surface does show dust, but it’s really easy to keep it dusted since there aren’t many nooks and crannies.
The one downside of this desk is the size – it is definitely on the compact side. That’s just what we had room for in this space, but I do wish it had room for a monitor. I have made do with using a separate mouse and keyboard – that really helps!
My Desk Chair
This desk chair is from joybird (the same manufacturer of our beloved couch), but they no longer make it. I linked some similar chairs above. If you’re worried about getting a more stylish than functional desk chair, know I definitely was too. I like that this one has wrap arounds for me to rest my arms, and my back still feels supported. Luckily, I like to move around to different spots while I’m working a lot, but if I was planning to sit at the chair for the full 40 hours a week, I might have opted for a true functional one instead.
Details
I would ideally like a larger monitor, but I’m currently trying to find one with a low profile base that won’t take up too much room on the desk. The keyboard and mouse in addition to the laptop really help make it feel like a more intentional work setup, so it’s fine for now!
I love these highlighters and these transparent sticky notes, and I could not live without my airpods pro for work meetings and listening to podcasts (linking my favorite airpods case here)
My planner is from my local barre3 studio, but I found it here.
Our Sound System
This is a little bit outside of my work from home setup, but one thing I really find myself liking and using for work is our “sound system.” I love playing music similarly to how it would be playing in an office (aka not through my headphones or my computer), so it’s really fun to have our music playing through our Apple TV and home pods mini.
I don’t know exactly how it works, but we have two home pods mini that act as a type of sound bar, and they’re really good!
That’s it for my Work From Home setup! I really enjoy it, and honestly it’s been nice to have a desk space in the living room. We use it when we need to look at something while we’re watching TV, Preston uses it when I’m not, etc. It’s almost like how hotels have desks right by the TV? I would recommend haha!
