Welcome

Photo Diary No. 10

October 27, 2021

It’s time for another photo diary! It’s been so long since the ninth installment of this post, but it’s better late than never right?

If you’re new here, which many of you likely could be since the last photo diary, I usually include mostly photos that are unedited in these roundups in an effort to keep reality a part of our life on the internet. It’s very easy to fall into the comparison trap on Instagram, where every photo is literally edited to perfection, but here I want to keep it slightly more realistic and point out that real life, unedited, is still so beautiful

Let’s get into it!

I’ve seen so many influencers from L.A., NYC, etc. post about their pressed juicery hauls, and I finally got to try it out. I thought it was very good, but Preston hates green juice so he of course did not like it. I want to go back and try a few different ones, and maybe if we have room in the budget ever, get a few to bring home for the week.

I finished this book at almost 2 a.m. last Friday night because I just had to know what happened and I couldn’t sleep. I’ll review it further in my October reading roundup, but I personally really liked it! Reading it goes great with a pumpkin cream cold brew on the side.

I shared my visit to the American Girl store on the day of the Stoney Clover release, and it was honestly so fun to be wrapped up in the AG world again. So many of my Instagram friends also loved these dolls, and I had so much fun talking with everyone throughout the day of sharing.

It was so crazy to see how many new dolls there are since I played with them!

We visited the Monterey Bay Aquarium (the one that inspired the aquarium in finding dory), and it was so fun. I don’t often visit aquariums or zoos, because I feel like to a certain degree, once you’ve seen one you have seen them all. However, this aquarium and maybe something like the San Diego zoo, are definitely worth it.

There’s a German biergarten on a really popular food street near our new apartment, and we finally got to try it out. I really liked it, and I am still thinking about the bratwurst!

Not even apologizing for two food posts in a row, but we finally found a *great* Mexican restaurant. It’s been harder to find amazing restaurants here than I thought it would be. When you move somewhere new and you’re not in college, it can be hard to find those “it” spots that you will just go back to again and again. Slowly, one spot a time, I think we will get there thought! This food was actually about 1.5 hours from us in Carmel Valley, but I feel like we will be looking for excuses to go back.

I am working on a San Francisco guide, and just to provide a sneak peek, my opinion is that it is way underrated! This is from Pier 39, which was just so cool and unexpected. I love that there’s so much like this to do in SF, but it’s totally manageable to navigate.

When moving, our motto was, if we don’t love it enough to pay to ship it across the country, why would we? So we sold our nespresso that was a very basic model to my friend Alyson who’s just now dabbling into making her own lattes, and we got a new model! We already love it so much. This is our first vertuo model, and we’re loving it so far.

This picture was taken at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, which is just beautiful by the way. I can’t believe how many big name stores they have that I can’t usually find in a regular mall.

Trying Pinkberry for the first time! It was great.

I used to have the hardest time remembering to take my vitamins, and coupled with the fact that my last doctor’s appointment informed me I was critically low on Vitamin D, that was not a good combination. Well, I finally tried the Ritual vitamins I have seen all over Instagram and blogs, and I’m happy to say I love them! They are so beautiful, and it’s a nice minty taste, so I find myself remembering to take them more often than not.

If you’ve been wondering about them, this is my official endorsement.

That’s it for my photo diary no. 10! Make sure to follow me on Instagram to see what we’re up to live!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons), or more if you like it super tart!
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. My grandma just put the sugar directly into the lemonade which was so delish! But I played around with doing this and think it incorporates really well.

Let cool, then mix with lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Optional! The tiniest dash of vanilla extract and very thinly sliced lemons.

Taste and adjust sugar or water if needed.

Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

I also made her brown butter broccolini from the same cookbook. Delish!
