Welcome

Pool Bag Essentials

May 27, 2019

Hello summer friends! It’s officially summer for me, yay! I am spending as much time as possible at the new pool that is at the apartment I am staying at for the summer. It has been so nice, I have never had a pool readily available in my life, and I could definitely see myself getting used to it now that I am here.

With spending more time at the pool, I wanted to share what I have been taking with me! I always keep a bag stocked so I can just grab it and go whenever I am ready. Here’s what I take with me to the pool!

Pool bag- I got this super cute grocery bag when I was in Italy last summer (shoutout to Italy for highly pushing reusable grocery bags!), and I have really enjoyed it for a pool bag. However, I have been eyeing this one from My Kind of Lovely if you’re looking for a new one! The code “Loren15” will get you 15% off!

Pool key + keys- does anyone else have a hard time keeping up with their keys? I can’t be the only one!

Jean shorts + shirt- I love wearing denim shorts over a swimsuit. Something about it just screams summer to me! I also like wearing thin dresses and tanks over my swimsuits.

SPF- I made the mistake of not lathering up with sunscreen on my first day out at the pool, and I will never do that again. I did not peel but my legs were BURNT and I don’t know if the tanlines on my back will ever fade. I was so mad at myself! I went and bought an SPF 30 lotion and SPF 50 spray for when I am there by myself and can’t reach my back.

Citronella oil- this is one of my most used essential oils in the summer! I just put dabs on my ankles, wrists and neck and I keep mosquitos away all day.

Water bottle- I always get so thirsty at the pool! The bigger water bottle the better, but I just have my trusty hyrdoflask.

Snacks- How fun is my cooler bag? I seriously love it so much! I always bring pretzels or peanuts to the pool. Sometimes I will throw some hummus and pretzel chips in the cooler bag if I am really hungry.

Audiobooks + headphones- The Knox county library has been amazing, but the only downside so far is the long waitlist for books. I have been using the Libby app to download audiobooks in the “what’s available category because I want to read now and not wait 13 weeks for the book I want. This helped me discover the usefulness of listening to audiobooks at the pool! I worry less about a physical book getting wet, the pages flipping in the wind and being in the perfect position to hold the book up without craning my neck down. It’s been a game changer!

Heart float- I am obsessed with my heart float! I don’t believe it’s online, but if you’re close to Knox they may still have some in store! If not, a ton of stores have had cute floats lately! I also have a peach one that I haven’t blown up yet! Not only is it so stinking cute, but it is actually really useful. The curves in the heart make the perfect place to rest your arms and head on when floating. It’s also really comfortable when floating on your back! I get so many compliments on it.

Beach towel- How cute is this one? Again, Loren15 gets you 15% off!

Growing Notes pt 2 - all about herbs! I am so ex Growing Notes pt 2 - all about herbs!

I am so excited to have fresh herbs to cook with all summer long. I’ll probably have to buy another dill once full Tennessee summer does its worst but I’ll gladly do it bc it’s truly one of my favorites 🤤

One tip I didn’t have time to include in the video - I planted mosquito-repelling marigolds with these herbs because they’ll live near our seating area ☀️ anything to ward off even a few pesky bugs!
