One of my favorite bloggers, Carly, shared a few questions to answer and then share for others to answer on her blog this morning. I thought it would be fun to share here just as a way to jump back into blogging regularly.
I have found blog inspiration hard to come by during these past few months, but I really want to keep the blog running for times when I am more inspired- I know it will come back to me sometime! So I apologize for the lack of content around here lately. Without further ado, here are the questions Carly shared!
What’s something you’re looking forward to?
Our six month wedding anniversary (June 28th) and 7 year and 6 month dating anniversary (June 8th) is coming up, and we started talking today about what we wanted to do for it! I know not everyone celebrates half-iversaries, but we always have and think it makes things a little more fun. If you know me in real life, you would know I am keen to celebrate even the smallest things!
What’s the best book you’ve read this year so far?
I don’t read much for pleasure while school is in session, and then I was still in a non-reading mood after school this year because of the quarantine. I feel more behind on reading than I usually do, but I want to get more into it as summer goes along. My favorite books I read last year were Educated, Where the Crawdads Sing and Daisy Jones and the Six. My favorite book I have read this year is probably The Dutch House by Ann Patchet! I listened to it on audiobook, and Tom Hanks was the narrator. So neat listening to him tell an entirely new story.
Have you learned how to do anything new recently?
I keep debating on starting a new hobby. I thought about needlepointing for a few days, but quickly realized it’s a very expensive hobby (if you do the patterns!). I also was unable to find any patterns anywhere that looked like something interesting to me or something I would give as a gift? It seemed like every pattern was either already sold out by the time I was looking or entirely out of my price range. Maybe I should start with the freestyle hoop ones? I just can’t decide!
I also would like to explore watercolor a little bit more. I watercolored quite a bit when I was in Italy one summer, but I need to get a lot better at it.
Besides those two new hobbies I am considering, I have gotten SO much more confident with cooking and baking, and I even learned a new editing software in the process of putting together our honeymoon video (which is hopefully coming soon!).
What are you watching lately?
I didn’t realize how much TV we had consumed during this time until I did my post on quarantine entertainment. We have been watching a lot. Besides the shows I mentioned in that post, we have now watched Waco, all episodes of Avatar: The Last Airbender, one season 2 of Schitt’s Creek! So a lot going on, haha. We also watched “Home Again” with Reese Witherspoon one night, and I thought it was so cute! Preston was “working” on the couch, but I noticed him getting distracted and watching the movie several times. I may have even had a tear or two in my eye!
Have amazing (or terrible) purchases you’ve made over the past couple of months?
Preston bought me a Roomba for my birthday, and it has already been such a joy! We toyed back and forth with getting one with our wedding money right after we got married, but couldn’t decide if it was worth it! After months of dreading getting out our huge vacuum cleaner (love our vacuum, but it’s heavy and requires a lot of lugging!), I was slowly wanting one more and more. I had no idea Preston was going to get it for my birthday, but three days in and we are SO happy with it. It’s so nice to have vacuumed floors everyday and not walk around and get annoyed about the floors needing vacuumed without actually wanting to vacuum, haha. I hope that makes sense!
I also bought my first every pair of sweatpants, and I really like them! I had a couple pairs from cheerleading warmups in high school, but I love how these are comfortable and stylish enough for me to wear out and about! As I’m typing this, I am also realizing I have purchased a few other fun things, so maybe I will turn this into an entire post!
Do you have a favorite new-to-you Instagram account?
I followed Brighton a long time ago, but somehow lost her through the algorithm, but I found her again when she got married in January! I have loved her content and the devotionals she shares pretty regularly. She also shared the @gocleanco account, and I am obsessed with it! I bought the cleaning handbook and have already enjoyed it so much. I felt so proud and accomplished after I finished cleaning using her method.
I encourage all of you to answer these questions on your own personal space or platform! It was actually a fun way to decompress my thoughts. Thanks to Carly for sharing these questions!
