Welcome

Recent Purchases 10.23

October 23, 2020

Admittedly I have been on a shopping hiatus recently. But, for some reason I saw an uptick in my purchases over the past few weeks (nothing crazy, but when you’re not shopping at all, even a few things feels intense, haha), and I wanted to share here!

Also, how do we feel about shopping/item posts every Friday? I have a somewhat difficult time balancing “shopping” posts with lifestyle posts- you see, I make money from sharing products, links, item roundups, etc., but I never want that  to be the only content you can find here. I think designating Friday as my time to share products and links to things I genuinely am interested in or have makes sense for me, but I would love to hear what you all think. Message me on Instagram if you feel strongly one way or the other or have any advice or insights for me!

Back to what I have purchased recently. Beware, it’s random.

Comfortable sweater under $35 – I am so impressed with the quality of this sweater. I am usually weary of Amazon clothing and try to avoid it generally, but I make an exception sometimes! I am so happy I did for this, but I do recommend sizing down. I am always a medium, but even the small is still pretty roomy for me.

Luxe dupe joggers – A blog follower shared these with me, and I really love them! She has FIVE pairs, so I knew it was worth a shot to try it out. I got the black pair, and even though I sized up they are still pretty snug. If you’re going to order a pair, I recommend diving deep into the reviews because apparently the different colors fit differently. They’re a pretty good lululemon dupe, but the main thing I like is that I can wear them to barre and then go somewhere immediately afterwards without feeling exposed in tight leggings if that makes sense? But I still totally wear leggings in public, don’t get me wrong haha.

Billie razor refill – This was my first time getting my refill in, and I am so impressed with how easy it is to change the heads. When I first shared these, so many of you commented and said you were a huge fan already! Just to be transparent, my cousin hated these razors when she tried it out- she said her skin must just be used to what she is using for years, and these gave her really bad razor burn. She forgot to cancel her subscription, so she gave me two refills she had gotten! I will probably pause my subscription for a bit because I have MONTHS of razor refills now haha. I will say, if you’re curious about these at all, $9 isn’t too far of a stretch to just try it out once!

“Hiking” boots – I shared so much about these on my Instagram, but I noticed quite a few sizes are still in stock and wanted to share again in case anyone is eyeing them. They are VERY comfortable and a fraction of the price of other pairs out there. I shared more boots from the same retailer in this post if you are looking to try out some new shoe trends.

Book club books – I shared my anxiety surrounding spending money on books recently, but as reported in that post, I am still so happy I decided to join the book club! It’s so much fun, and I think the “buy in” is totally worth it for me. We just finished reading “the guest list” by Lucy Foley- it’s the perfect thriller for this time of year. I am a little weary of thrillers usually, but this one wasn’t icky or so depressing that it stayed with me for a few days. That might sound weird, but sometimes weird themes in books will mess me up for a few days. This was interesting and thrilling without those toxic themes that tend to bring me down. Plus, the spooky Ireland setting of the book is perfect for this time of year.

Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons), or more if you like it super tart!
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. My grandma just put the sugar directly into the lemonade which was so delish! But I played around with doing this and think it incorporates really well.

Let cool, then mix with lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Optional! The tiniest dash of vanilla extract and very thinly sliced lemons.

Taste and adjust sugar or water if needed.

Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

I also made her brown butter broccolini from the same cookbook. Delish!
