When I was brainstorming blog post ideas this morning, I realized I had watched a handful of streaming movies/shows recently that I hadn’t shared. My friend Alyson did a post about her recent shows, and I really liked the simplicity of just sharing something like this. There have been multiple streaming hits for me and just a few misses.
Movies
Knives Out (Amazon Prime)- I saw the trailer for this movie SO much before the film came out, and I was pretty interested in seeing it. Preston went to see if with his family when they were in Colorado for Thanksgiving, and we just never got around to going to see it/me going to see it without him. I noticed it was on Amazon Prime Video, and I jumped on watching it almost immediately. It was really, really good and the cast was amazing. I think almost anyone would like this movie! It’s rated R, but nothing in it is overtly scandalous if that makes sense?
Spotlight (Netflix)- When we first watched this, I had no clue it was an Oscar winner. We keep up with Oscar news and lore, so I have no idea how we missed that. It was so, so good, and I was surprised with how star-studded the cast is. Some of my favorite movies are the portrayals of a true story- aka I can go on a google binge about the true events afterwards. I think anyone would like this movie.
Radioactive (Amazon Prime)- This was a miss for me. I thought we were going to like it, but it jumped around a lot and had a ton of chaotic scene transitions that felt unnecessary. I wouldn’t waste your time on this one to be honest!
TV
Dead to Me (Netflix)- I think this is a good show to have on in the background. I love to watch TV when I am cross-stitching, and this was the perfect show for that activity. I am really excited for season three.
Outlander (Netflix + last two seasons on Starz Amazon Prime add on)- Okay, this show is controversial I think, but I enjoyed it! It’s definitely rated mature for a reason, but I honestly love the later seasons when it gets a little bit more mild. If you like anything related to historical fiction or period pieces, you might like this.
Renovation Island (Hulu/HGTV)- This was the last HGTV show I worked on before I left my internship there. It’s honestly a really good and different show for HGTV, and even Preston gets hooked into the story lines- I can tell he gets distracted by the show when he is “working,” haha.
