One of the top to-dos on my fall bucket list was visiting an apple orchard, but with the hustle and bustle during October so far, I honestly wasn’t sure if we would be able to make it work. Thankfully, the perfect evening opened up, and we were able to make the hour drive to Carver’s Apple Orchard & Farmhouse Restaurant.
We’ve been visiting Carver’s almost once a year for the past few years, and it truly is a special place. It’s barely commercialized at all- just a sweet, rural marketplace and restaurant about an hour from the “big city.” Things are slow and simple there, but I think that’s what makes it the perfect place for a fall respite.
Contrary to what these pictures convey, you actually can’t pick apples yourself at Carver’s, but I don’t think that’s a con at all. Instead you get to go into the quaint little market and choose from a wide array of fresh apples in a lot of different sizes and flavors. We also picked up some apple butter, but had a hard time narrowing down to just that from the plethora of other canned goodies they had for sale.
The apple cider is so fresh, and if you have time to eat at the restaurant- definitely order the apple fritters. They come out hot with two full mini containers of apple butter, and the combination is just delicious. Our favorite menu items have to be the catfish and the pork chops!
If you’re a little bummed that you actually can’t pick the apples, I wouldn’t be too worried. Carver’s happily lets anyone walk around and stage a little photoshoot, which is exactly what we did! There were some apples already on the ground, so I just took the apples I purchased and some of the fallen apples and played pretend. It works 🙂
