Welcome

Wedding Update No. 1

February 14, 2019

featured-image

Hi friends!! I am coming to you today with a wedding update. This is so exciting to write but so scary- something about putting all of the thoughts and plans I have for my best day ever out into the world terrifies me! I love having blog posts for memories, and I think some of you will find it helpful, so here we go!

I think I am going to break it up into categories of what’s done and not done to help me organize myself, haha!

I loved dress shopping!

Done // wooo

Date- we are officially getting married on December 28th, 2019. It’s less than 300 days away, which I know will pass by so quickly. I have said “We will be married this year!” to Preston on every holiday and big moment that has happened this year.

Wedding Planner– This was the first thing we did! She did my friend Jordan’s wedding last year, and she was so helpful. I knew we needed to work with Kristy. She has already been a huge help, and I know she will be going forward with decorations and day of stuff.

My wedding planner is THE best!

Venue- We booked our venue in early January. We are having it at a historic railway station in Knoxville, so excited! It’s really vintage, and I slowly started realizing that my wedding has a lot of vintage touches. The feel and color scheme of the venue is really helping me set the tone of the wedding!

Dress- Ahhhhh, I am so excited about my wedding dress. It’s unique and so me! I can’t wait to wear it all day. I have an entire post about my wedding dress shopping experience. I also have the shoes I am 99% sure I am going to wear! I still need a veil and a garter.

Photographer- We booked our photographer during January- she is so nice and has such a relaxing personality. She has a ton of great ideas for personalized photos for engagement photos and the wedding day!

Videographer- I am a huge wedding video fan, so this was very important to me! We have our videographer booked, and it might be one of the things I am most excited about.

DJ- We got the DJ that I worked with for one of my internship events last year, and he is the nicest. I am so excited! I don’t think our wedding will have much dancing, but I know he will take care of all the ceremony music and first dances well.

Dessert- We have half of our dessert plans booked, but I want to keep it a secret in case my friends or family read this!

Ring box– This is totally an unnecessary item. but I ordered one of The Mrs. Boxes for my engagement ring. I can’t wait to use this for pictures and as a special keepsake.

Flowers- we have booked our florist, but we haven’t went to talk about specifics yet!

Not done //

Second dessert- there is a part 2 to our dessert plan and we haven’t booked that yet, but we are in the process!

Catering- This is one of the hardest things to decide on. Preston and I are huge foodies, so we want to make sure we get it right. We have visited on caterer and now we are deciding if we should go with them or keep looking!

Getaway car- We are planning to get a fun car to take us away in at the end of the night, but we haven’t booked it yet!

Engagement photos- We are hopefully getting these done soon! Engagement photos feel so important, and I want them to be perfect. I haven’t started shopping for outfits yet, but I will probably do a post all about it!

That’s it for today’s wedding update! Comment on my latest instagram if you have wedding content requests!

🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long: I 🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long:

Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons), or more if you like it super tart!
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. My grandma just put the sugar directly into the lemonade which was so delish! But I played around with doing this and think it incorporates really well.

Let cool, then mix with lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Optional! The tiniest dash of vanilla extract and very thinly sliced lemons.

Taste and adjust sugar or water if needed.

Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

I also made her brown butter broccolini from the same cookbook. Delish!
