There have been so many good reads in July! It started off as a slow reading month, but then all my library waitlist books seemed to come in at the same time. I started finishing some of the audiobooks in around two days, which really allowed me to “read” more this month!
This follows the story of a woman who meets a man, has an incredible week with him and then never hears from him again. Her friends try to tell her it’s something that happens all the time, but she can’t help but feel something is wrong. The entire story keeps you guessing, “Was he just not that interested?” or “Is something really wrong with him?” I didn’t expect the ending at all! I listened to this on audiobook.
I thought this was going to be a bad book to read in the middle of summer, but it ended up being a great read! The entire plot is about a girl experiencing “love at first sight” in December, but the remainder of the story doesn’t play out completely in December. It told the story of several characters over the course of almost ten years, and it was really neat to read something long term. I couldn’t put this one down! I rented this from the library, and the font was 2 times normal size. It looked like it was going to be a long book, but it didn’t take me long at all.
I really didn’t know what to expect from this book, but hoped it was as good as the Big Little Lies TV show that I love. It was even better! I really didn’t know what was going to happen with the characters until the very end, and I ended up loving the unexpected ending. I love when a book manages to be unexpected and achieve a “happy” ending. It helped to imagine the characters being the same as the actresses who star in Big Little Lies, and there were some definite similarities. I don’t want to give away too much, but you won’t get the full picture until the epilogue. I listened to this on audiobook!
I had seen this book was popular a while ago, and then I got off the waitlist for it at the library. I listened to it in less than two days! It was so good, and I was able to listen on 2x speed which always helps. Normally I only listen to audiobooks in the car, but this one made me want to listen while getting ready for the day, making lunch, etc. The ending was so unexpectedly perfect, and I really enjoyed the twists and turns. I also love when books are told from different perspectives, and this one did that nicely! I love books involving the upperclass- I think reading about the clothes and trips to be so much fun. This book had a lot of that!
My book total for the summer is way better than I expected it to be for the summer, and I am so happy! My reading will most likely slow down much more toward the end of August, and probably stop altogether in September. What I am hoping to read next is Where the Crawdads Sing and Tell me Everything. Let me know if you’re reading along with me by sending me a message on my Instagram!
