Welcome

What I’m eyeing lately

July 25, 2019

Do you ever have a busy couple weeks and feel like your expenses are bursting at the seams? That happens to me at least once every few months, and I know it will only increase as I take on more responsibility when I am officially #adulting. The Nordstrom sale time always means stocking up on some fall basics, I had to buy curtains for mine and Preston’s future place, and we booked part of our honeymoon adventure last week. Not to mention the chunk of my paycheck that goes to barre3 every four weeks. Luckily, I save a lot during the not so heavy spending times, but after these spending bouts, I always feel the need to really draw back and live every day like the day before my paycheck comes. Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean I stop eyeing cute pieces that I would love to add to my life but don’t need like the other items I mentioned above.

Today’s post is a roundup of all the items I would buy if I wasn’t on a money saving routine.

Gal Meets Glam July Collection: This is the number one thing I would be purchasing if I wasn’t saving right now. I am quite literally obsessed with these dresses, and cherish the two I have in my closet so much. I can just tell they are going to be the classic pieces that I hang on to forever. The dresses I would love to add to my wardrobe before starting my new internship in August would be this elegant, professional pink number, the fun but classic smocked beauty and this fall transition dress.

Custom Shampoo: I went through the entire process of customizing my shampoo order, but I just can’t commit to $50 on shampoo and conditioner that I don’t know will work for sure. I have been thinking about changing up my shampoo, but I just don’t know if I’m ready to spend this much! Krista did a full review of it and included a coupon code if you’re interested in exploring it more! If I wasn’t saving, I would probably consider this splurge more.

Espadrilles:  I have these in the tan color, but I think the black pair would come in handy. I have been reaching for these more than any other shoe in my closet this summer. I don’t think the quality will hold up forever, but for the price, I am happy if they last for a summer or two. I try not to buy any “fast fashion” pieces, but I am very hard on shoes and usually can only wear even a high quality pair for a year.

Spice Kit: Okay, I know this is random and probably won’t apply to many people reading this, but if you’re into organizing you might appreciate it! I have always wanted to label spices like this, and I found this kit on Amazon. I put this item on our wedding registry, fingers crossed we get it! I know it’s not absolutely necessary (or is it?!), or I would go ahead and buy it!

Mixed Metal Necklace: Kendra Scott’s fall collection is truly amazing! It’s one of my favorite collections they have released in recent years, and I think I could take home one of everything. I am especially looking at this cute necklace, and I am so worried it’s going to sell out. I don’t wear different necklaces very often, and I already have two great KS necklaces, so for now this piece will have to wait!

Alo Yoga: I have been wanting to try out this athletic brand for a long time! I got a workout top from them during the Nordstrom sale (sold out unfortunately), and I love the cut and fit of it. The leggings were more than I wanted to spend, but I think they are going to be amazing when I finally save up to getting them!

That’s it for the pieces I am currently eyeing. I am so proud of myself for saving money toward my future this summer, but it never hurts to window shop, right? Ultimately I am committed to spending my money on items that will add value to my life post-marriage and not just take up space in our cozy home.

Did you see anything you have to add to your cart? Let me know what you would splurge on this week on my most recent Instagram post!

🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long: I 🍋 lemonade recipe to enjoy all summer long:

Ingredients:
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons), or more if you like it super tart!
- ¾ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice
- Lemon slices, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the sugar. Heat over medium, stirring until sugar is completely dissolved to make a simple syrup. My grandma just put the sugar directly into the lemonade which was so delish! But I played around with doing this and think it incorporates really well.

Let cool, then mix with lemon juice and remaining 3 cups of cold water. Optional! The tiniest dash of vanilla extract and very thinly sliced lemons.

Taste and adjust sugar or water if needed.

Serve over ice and garnish with lemon slices.

I also made her brown butter broccolini from the same cookbook. Delish!
