Hello there! It’s felt like the longest time since I sat down and wrote a blog post. That might be because it has been a while- almost three weeks. I don’t think I have ever taken that long of a break from blogging, but I just knew anything I produced was not going to be very high quality or even coherent. Life was busy. The last published post was our couples shower, and since then, I wrapped up the club I am the president of for the semester, went to watch UTK play in Lexington, Read more
Our couples shower
Our third and final wedding shower was this past Sunday, and it was the perfect ending to these pre-wedding events! The first shower was a personal shower, the second a bridal shower (with Preston there to open gifts) and our final was a couples shower. It was so much fun to have all three really tailored to include all our friends and family from both sides, and we couldn’t feel more blessed with the outpouring of love and support. Read more
My bridal shower
This past weekend, the most loving and supportive women in mine and Preston’s lives gathered together to throw a beautiful bridal brunch complete with all my favorite things. I am a huge fan of surprises, and the women kept everything a complete secret to me! Showing up to the church where the shower was held was so exciting and gave me a tiny glimpse into how I will feel walking into the venue on my wedding day. I wanted to do a complete recap of the event for the blog, partly for any showerRead more
Black tie optional
I recently went to a black tie optional event in celebration of the 50th anniversary of my college at UTK, and it was one of the most fun experiences ever, meaning a blog post on it was a must. Not being in a sorority and being required to attend semi and formal events twice a year, I haven’t been to a really formal event since prom in high school. Prom was always so much fun, but there is something about the refined elegance that comes with an event labeled black tie or black tie optional. Read more
Game Day Shopping at West Town Mall
West Town Mall has been home to shopping for some of the most special occasions in my life to this point. My mom and I shopped there for father daughter dance dresses when I was in elementary school, I bought my high school graduation dress there and almost every pair of shoes I own have come from the Dillard’s shoe department. Preston and I stop in Williams Sonoma and dream about the appliances in there, andRead more
My bridal denim jacket
In the process of planning the wedding, one of the most enjoyable tasks has been window shopping for those “extra” pieces that are making the year and the entire journey more enjoyable. This has spanned from obsessing over which color “Mrs. Box” to purchase to a fun pair of sneakers I am going to wear for wedding errands. I try to not let myself get carried away, but the wedding market is overloaded with the Read more
The best gifts for your bestie bride
It didn’t hit me until recently that I might be a trusted source for what to gift your friend who just got engaged until a friend asked me what she could do for her friend who was about to be proposed to. As a girl with a strong skew toward the “gift” love language, tangible goods are one of the quickest ways to show me you spent time and energy thinking about me. Read more
Wedding Update No. 3
The wedding is in less than 110 days. It gets more exciting and nerve wrecking with every passing moment, but I can honestly say I have never looked forward to an event more in my life. Since my last update, we have done a few things! Read more
Track your progress
How to prepare yourself now for those tricky interview questions later.
Have you ever been in an interview, and the interviewer asks the question, “Describe a specific example of a time you…?” Suddenly, you can’t remember a single thing you have ever done in your life. Completely blanking on a specific situation and giving a more general answer is a sure way to hurt your confidence during an interview. I’ve been there, and I’m here to help make sure this doesn’t happen to you again.Read more
What I read in August 2019
To avoid thinking about the crazy fact that it’s already almost September, today’s post is a recap on all the books I read or listened to this month. I am so proud of how many books I was able to read this summer. If you were following along with my journey to read this much, did you meet your goal? Mine was to read eight books, and I finished the summer with a lot more crossed off my list! Read more
